Job description

Do you love taking on big challenges that require exceptionally creative solutions? Do you thrive at the intersection of simulation technology and real-world camera systems? As part of our Camera Technologies group, you'll help design the innovative technology that allows each generation of Apple products to produce photos even more incredible than the last. You'll design and develop groundbreaking ideas for everything involved in our camera systems, from sensor to lens. You'll collaborate with teams across Apple to research, design, develop, test, and qualify camera hardware for Apple products. Together, we'll craft a magical photography experience that redefines what millions of customers can expect from their cameras. ..The Camera Simulation team develops simulation frameworks and tooling that support the design and validation of next-generation camera systems. We collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to define hardware design specifications and key performance metrics to deliver seamless user experiences. You'll work directly with partner teams to build simulation pipelines that transform turnaround times from weeks to days, enabling self-service workflows that accelerate engineering across the organization.
As a Simulation Engineer on the Camera Simulation team, you will rapidly prototype and develop simulation frameworks, camera models, and application tooling that support emerging camera architectures. You'll collaborate deeply with partner teams to understand their simulation needs, deliver working solutions quickly, and help document and broadcast best practices across the organization.
BS and 3+ years relevant industry experience in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldProgramming experience in Python or C++Experience with one or more of: camera simulation, optical modeling, image signal processing, computer vision, computational photography, or calibration systemsExperience working with AI/ML tools and frameworks for imaging, data analysis, or automation
MS/PhD in Optics, Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fieldExperience with 2 or more of the following: optical simulation, ISP pipelines, sensor modeling, computer vision, or computational photography or AI/ML for imagingFamiliarity with simulation frameworks or synthetic data generation pipelinesTrack record of building tools or platforms adopted by other engineering teamsAbility to move fast, prototype quickly, and iterate engineering solutions based on feedbackExperience working cross-functionally and communicating technical concepts to diverse stakeholders
