Position Title: Teachers (Physics and Mathematics)
Location: 42 W. Madison St., Chicago, IL 60602
Essential Functions:
Teach secondary school students physics and mathematics;
Responsible for the instruction, progress, and discipline of all pupils in assigned classes, and perform related duties as required;
Provide instructional plans, which include-but are not limited to-written lesson plans and preparation in accordance with the objectives of the instructional
program;
Establish positive learning expectation standards for all pupils, evaluate pupils' progress, and maintain current and accurate records of pupils' achievements;
Implement instructional methods, which includes-but is not limited to-application of contemporary principles of learning theory and teaching methodology that draws from the range of instructional materials available in the
school;
Participation in the development and implementation of new teaching techniques and provide bulletin board and interest areas reflective of pupils' current work;
Exhibit and apply knowledge of the curriculum content related to subject areas and instructional level;
Participate in programs to improve student attendance;
Promote anti-vandalism programs in schools, and establish and maintain reasonable rules of conduct consistent with the provisions of the CPS's Uniform Discipline Code within the classroom and on school grounds, including-but not limited to-corridors and lunchrooms;
Maintain accurate attendance records and seating charts;
Encourage student growth in self-discipline and positive self-concept;
Ensure fairness in teacher-pupil relationships and exhibit an understanding and respect for students;
Initiate appropriate conferences with parents, guardians, administrators, and/or ancillary personnel in accordance with school procedures;
Communicate with parents/guardians and counsel pupils on their academic progress, attendance, and conduct;
Participate in in-service meetings and professional staff meetings and use pertinent information and materials provided; and,
Coordinate and attend class field trips, and work in extracurricular and after-school activities.
Lead operations or the Reflect and Learn System ("RLS"), the web-based tool that houses evaluation evidence, ratings, and summative reports.
Minimum Qualifications & Requirements:
Must hold a bachelor's degree in a field of study that prepares for a career in teaching or its equivalent, and Illinois Professional Educator License, with endorsements in Mathematics (Senior HS - Grade 9 through Grade 12) and Science - Physics (Senior HS - Grade 9 through Grade 12).
Annual base salary starts at $69,857. Benefits include paid time off, insurance, retirement, and tuition reimbursement.
