A core responsibility of the role is leading the development and maintenance of laboratory infrastructure and research capabilities, with an initial focus on (i) capabilities that support industry-driven projects and, in parallel, (ii) capabilities that enable glass-based electrochemical energy research, including materials development, cell fabrication, and electrochemical testing, to ensure continuity and scalability of research operations. The position will also provide day-to-day laboratory leadership through supervision of students and postdoctoral researchers, coordination of laboratory activities, and liaison with industry partners and the Northwest Ohio Innovation Consortium (NOIC), contributing to the long-term growth and sustainability of the glass research program.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.D. in Materials Science, Glass Science, Chemistry, Physics, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field.
A minimum of 4-8 years of post-Ph.D. research and/or industry experience, with the appointment rank (Research Assistant or Research Associate Professor) determined based on qualifications and experience.
Demonstrated experience in glass science, electrochemical energy materials, batteries, or related functional materials systems.
Hands-on experience with laboratory-based materials research, including materials synthesis, processing, and characterization.
Experience with electrochemical testing, cell fabrication, or development of experimental research capabilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a multidisciplinary, industry-aligned research environment.
