At CAE, our Business Development team members are creative, versatile, and bring strong strategic business acumen. This role is a key contributor within the CAE Defense & Security (D&S) Business Development and Capture team.

As the Rotary & Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for pursuing, developing, and winning Rotary training and domainassociated mission support business opportunities, supporting CAE's strategy to sustain its leadership as Canada's foremost training and military operational support company. This role requires sound business development judgment, specialized Rotary environmental domain knowledge, and the ability to advance opportunities from identification through bid and into execution.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Achieve significant annual order intake for the Rotary & UAS Training and Mission & Operational Support (M&OS) portfolio, generally in excess of $50M annually
  • Identify market opportunities; prospect and develop new clients and partners; maintain and grow existing client and partner relationships
  • Lead and develop capture strategies and complex pursuit teams, including win themes and positioning
  • Support the contracting process and manage pursuits through bid submission and execution
  • Support the development and positioning of CAE capabilities within the Canadian Defence & Security market, with a focus on the Naval domain
  • Collaborate with engineering and product teams to develop innovative solutions and deliver strategic sales presentations
  • Work with CAE's global offsets organization to develop and implement effective offset strategies
  • Provide executive, management, operations, and engineering stakeholders with visibility into key opportunities, sharing subject matter expertise
  • Assist, and when required, lead bid and proposal teams for Rotary, Naval, and other assigned opportunities
  • Maintain awareness of competitive market offerings, emerging technologies, and industry trends
  • Manage budgets and expenses associated with approved pursuits
  • Support career growth within the role, with potential progression to Senior Business Development Manager or Capture Manager

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, physics, computer science, mathematics, or equivalent practical experience in a related technical field
  • 12+ years of experience within the Canadian Defence and Security industry
  • 6+ years of experience in, or exposure to, Canadian defence procurement
  • Indepth knowledge of military air operations, maritime patrol, antisubmarine warfare operations, or related technologies gained through military service or industry experience
  • Detailed understanding of Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations
  • Strong business development skills, strategic mindset, and commercial acumen
  • Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with OEMs and business partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to identify, develop, and execute business opportunities through the bid phase and into execution
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a NATO SECRET Security Clearance and Controlled Goods clearance (CG required to start)
  • Eligibility to work in Canada (Canadian Citizen, Permanent Resident, or valid Work Permit)
  • Ability to travel within Canada approximately 25-40%, with occasional U.S. or overseas travel (approximately 10%)
  • Hybrid work model, with approximately two days per week onsite

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Bilingualism in English and French
  • Strong knowledge of the aerospace domain
  • Indepth Air Force, helicopter, or rotarywing operational experience
  • Established professional network within the Canadian defence industry, including DND, PSPC, ISED, or equivalent Public Safety & Security organizations
  • Experience developing and executing offset strategies
  • Demonstrated creativity, versatility, and advanced capture leadership experience

Base Pay Range

Our total rewards package includes base pay and benefits, with final compensation determined by experience, skill, location, and internal equity.
