Job description

We are seeking a Physical Security Designer to work in our Albany, Poughkeepsie, or Rochester, NY office and assist in the preparation of construction documents and shop drawings for security related projects. This position requires Revit and AutoCAD proficiency and will work closely with engineering staff and clients to develop drawings, specifications, and reports for physical security projects.

Responsibilities

  • Work with other engineers as part of a Project Team to develop physical security concepts, strategies, designs, drawings, specifications, and reports for systems including Access Control, Intrusion and Perimeter Detection, CCTV, Duress systems, and Integration of multiple systems.
  • Prepare physical security drawings and details using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Create schedules, tables, and reports using Microsoft Office
  • Perform field investigations to document existing conditions.
  • Improve current knowledge of technologies and trends, as they apply to the applicable project and market types, and continually strengthens skills.

Salary Range: $70,000 - $110,000 per year

The specific salary offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate's relevant experience, education, and work location.

Requirements

  • 2+ years experience preparing physical security documentation using AutoCAD or Revit.
  • 5+ years overall experience working with access control and CCTV systems.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret Access Control, Intrusion Detection, and CCTV system shop drawings and point-to-point diagrams.
  • Proficiency in AutoDesk Revit and AutoCAD as well as Microsoft Office products.
  • Certificates or a degree in CAD drafting, Engineering, Access Control, Intrusion Detection, CCTV, or related field. Applicable experience in the appropriate field may be substituted for the educational background.
  • Strong writing, organizational and communications skills.
  • Able to work independently, as well as part of multi-discipline teams producing construction documents for physical and electronic security systems.
  • Ability to work on several projects simultaneously.
  • Clean criminal record with ability to enter and work within NYS DOCCS facilities.
