Job Description

Position: Linux System Administrator

Location: Oklahoma City, OK

Duration: 3+ months

Description: Responsible for day-to-day administration of Linux operating systems using x86 hardware platforms. Must have the ability to interface with all Devon Infrastructure teams to ensure compatibility in design and adherence to Devon IT standards. Candidate must have advanced problem management, systems troubleshooting skills and performance tuning ability. Must have recent advanced Linux server background and experience.


Extensive knowledge and experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Solid experience in tuning for various databases on Linux including Oracle, MySQL, and PostgreSQL

Strong knowledge of storage configuration using multipathing via SAN, NFS, file system management with LVM, a must

Experience with VMware

Skilled in Linux system administration, including installation, configuration, troubleshooting, package management and automation

Fluent in systems automation tools such as Red Hat Satellite Server

Strong scripting skills using Bourne, BASH, PHP, and Python languages

Strong knowledge of Kickstart and patch management practices and methodologies in the Linux environment

Strong knowledge of SELinux and iptables

Broad knowledge of x86 server and workstations hardware

Knowledge of identity management, user account provisioning using LDAP and managing automounts

Exposure to project management and associated methodologies

Understands networking and the various associated technologies

Experience in security at an OS layer and associated controls

Experience with storage platforms from Network Appliance and Hitachi

Experience in performance analysis and monitoring

Experience in high availability and Linux clustering is a plus

Experience with SUSE Linux is a plus

Experience with OpenStack and Red Hat CloudForms is a plus


Qualifications

B.S. Degree in Computer Science or the equivalent knowledge base through industry experience.

Minimum 7+ yrs experience with Linux and associated hardware platforms.

Must have RHCSA, RHCE or better preferred.

Experience maintaining and supporting workstation and server class hardware.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work as part of a team or independently.

Must be able to make sound decisions and escalated issues to appropriate team members.

Must be flexible to work after hours and weekends if required.

Open attitude towards and ability to learn and utilize new technologies.

Experience participating in large enterprise projects and new technology deployments.

Assertiveness and initiative to identify, investigate, and solve problems within UNIX environment.

Must have the passion for continuing innovation and proactively research new technologies.

Oil Industry experience a plus.
