Summary
A public-sector organization is seeking a highly skilled and versatile Integration Engineer to join its dynamic team. This position is responsible for integrating vendor applications and automating workflows across various systems and services to ensure smooth data exchange. The Integration Engineer will collaborate closely with business stakeholders, IT leadership, internal teams, and third-party vendors to build secure, scalable, and efficient integration solutions.
This role will help bridge gaps between vendor platforms, legacy systems, and a combination of on-premises and cloud-based services. The ideal candidate will have strong API integration experience, an automation-focused mindset, and the ability to support technology needs across public safety, utilities, and administrative departments.
What You'll Do:
  • Work with business stakeholders and developers to gather, document, and analyze integration requirements across departments.
  • Become a subject matter expert on vendor technologies by partnering with vendor support teams and internal staff to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Research, evaluate, and recommend software tools, platforms, and third-party solutions that meet business and technical requirements.
  • Build and maintain custom application solutions that support secure data transfer between departments and teams.
  • Design and document technical solutions for new and existing integrations.
  • Translate application requirements into actionable infrastructure requests, including servers, databases, and resource allocations, for review by infrastructure teams and the Change Advisory Board.

  • Develop solutions using Python, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, and other relevant technologies.
  • Ensure integrations comply with CJIS requirements and other applicable government regulations protecting sensitive public data.
  • Design, develop, and maintain API integrations between internal systems, vendor applications, and legacy databases.
  • Translate business needs into technical integration workflows, including design, planning, execution, and follow-up.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize application performance and scalability.
  • Identify and resolve system bottlenecks and performance issues.
  • Apply security best practices to protect applications from common vulnerabilities, including SQL injection, cross-site scripting, and cross-site request forgery.
  • Use automation tools to streamline repetitive integration tasks.
  • Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that follows established coding standards.
  • Maintain documentation related to system integrations, technical specifications, data-flow diagrams, and configuration changes.
  • Prioritize assignments based on business impact, available resources, and project timelines.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to development processes and workflows.

Work Schedule / Environment
  • The regular schedule is Monday through Thursday from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., with alternating Fridays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Depending on the assignment, employees may occasionally work outside standard business hours or additional hours during periods of increased workload.
  • The work environment may vary by assignment but will generally involve an office or field setting. This is an on-site position; hybrid and remote work are not available.

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.

Experience and Skills
  • Five years of related professional experience, including at least two years in a role comparable to a Business Systems Analyst.
  • Proficiency in full-stack development using Python, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, or similar technologies.
  • Strong scripting skills using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar tools.
  • Understanding of unit testing and deployment strategies.
  • Knowledge of on-premises application and database-server architecture, including Windows, Linux, SQL Server, and MySQL.
  • Ability to define technical specifications for new infrastructure builds.
  • Familiarity with ETL tools and data-transformation platforms such as Apache, SSIS, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with relational databases, including Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other relational database management systems.
  • Understanding of data-validation concepts.
  • Knowledge of business-analysis methods, including requirements gathering, process mapping, and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze complex technical issues and recommend effective solutions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with stakeholders from a variety of professional and technical backgrounds.
