Job description

Job Description
A full-time postdoctoral fellow position is immediately available in the laboratory of Dr. Yajie Liang at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, Center for Stem Cell Biology & Regenerative Medicine and Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine, for ongoing laboratory research on neural stem cell labeling, transplantation, and 2-photon Imaging in the mouse model of ischemic stroke. A major focus of the laboratory is to apply the long-term intravital single-cell tracking (LIST) under 2-photon microscopy to study the dynamics of grafted neural stem cells (human iPSC-derived neural progenitors) and interactions with host environment through genetically encoded probes. We will employ multi-disciplinary approaches including molecular biology, cell culture, morphological and functional 2P imaging and high-field MRI in live animals to study donor-host interactions and seek measures to improve the survival, migration and integration of transplanted stem cells. We expect the fellow to be highly motivated, independent and innovative. The applicant can expect to receive career mentoring from faculty of the Program of Image Guided Neurointerventions (PIGN) in developing a research program, writing research proposals, and to participate in career development activities. This position provides outstanding opportunities for continued scientific development and for contributing to pioneering research with high translational impact. The scientific environment at University of Maryland, Baltimore and surrounding institutions such as Johns Hopkins University, University of Maryland School of Engineering at college park offers ample opportunity for productive collaborations. More information about the PI could be found here:
