Photography Intern information

What types of projects and assignments can a photography intern typically expect to work on?

As a Photography Intern, you can expect to work on a variety of projects such as assisting with photo shoots, editing images, organizing digital assets, and supporting senior photographers during events or studio sessions. You may also help with setting up equipment, scouting locations, and managing props and lighting. This hands-on experience not only develops your technical skills but also provides valuable insight into the workflow and collaborative environment of a professional photography team.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a photography intern, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Photography Intern, you need a foundational understanding of photography principles, camera operation, and basic photo editing, typically supported by a portfolio or relevant coursework. Familiarity with DSLR or mirrorless cameras, Adobe Creative Suite (especially Photoshop and Lightroom), and digital asset management systems is commonly expected. Creativity, strong attention to detail, and the ability to take direction and collaborate are standout soft skills. These skills and qualities enable interns to produce high-quality images, adapt to varied assignments, and contribute effectively to creative teams.
