Job description

The Dental Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting a dental practice by coordinating a clinical team and assisting with a variety of dental procedures. This position involves chairside support during routine general dentistry as well as specialty areas such as orthodontics, oral surgery, endodontics, and pediatrics. The Lead Dental Assistant/Assistant reports to the Dentist, Office Manager, or Practice Owner and helps ensure efficient patient care and smooth office operations with no travel between practice locations required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures
  • Prepare patients for treatments, ensuring comfort and safety
  • Manage sterilization and infection control of instruments and equipment
  • Support dental radiography and imaging processes
  • Schedule patient appointments and coordinate with the dental team
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies and equipment
  • Lead and coordinate tasks within the small dental team
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care
  • Know how to use dental scanners for intraoral scans and photos
  • Take physical dental impressions

Preferred Qualifications

  • 1+ years of experience in dental assisting
  • Certificate or diploma in dental assisting
  • Proficiency in chairside assistance and infection control procedures
  • Experience with dental radiography and patient care techniques
  • Knowledge of sterilization techniques and scheduling coordination
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated team leadership abilities
