Description Position Overview: The Public Safety Aide for the Village of Los Lunas plays an essential role in supporting law enforcement and public safety efforts within the community. This position is responsible for providing assistance in various areas, including traffic control, evidence collection, crime scene preservation, photography, search and rescue operations, and the preparation of non-arrest reports. The Public Safety Aide contributes to maintaining order and safety in the community and providing valuable support to law enforcement personnel.

Key Responsibilities: Assist law enforcement officers in traffic control and management during incidents, accidents, and special events. Collect and document evidence at crime scenes under the direction of law enforcement professionals. Help preserve the integrity of crime scenes by following established protocols and guidelines.

Utilize photography equipment to capture accurate images of crime scenes, evidence, and related materials. Participate in search and rescue operations, assisting in locating missing individuals or items. Prepare non-arrest reports, documenting incidents, observations, and actions taken.

Provide support to law enforcement officers during investigations, ensuring they have the necessary resources and assistance. Assist with administrative tasks, such as data entry, filing, and record keeping. Maintain communication with law enforcement personnel and follow their directions and guidance.

Uphold professionalism and a positive demeanor when interacting with the public and other stakeholders. Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, and ethical standards at all times. Assist in maintaining a safe and organized work environment.

Participate in training and professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED certificate.
