How much do photogrammetry jobs pay per year?

As of Jun 12, 2026, the average yearly pay for photogrammetry in Washington is $86,393.00, according to ZipRecruiter salary data. Most workers in this role earn between $60,000.00 and $107,000.00 per year, depending on experience, location, and employer.

What is a Photogrammetry job?

A photogrammetry job involves using photography to create precise 3D models and maps of objects, environments, or terrains. Professionals in this field analyze images from drones, satellites, or cameras to extract measurements and spatial data. They work in industries like surveying, architecture, archaeology, gaming, and virtual reality. Photogrammetrists use specialized software to process images and create detailed reconstructions for various applications. Strong technical skills in imaging, GIS, and 3D modeling are essential for this role.

What typical daily tasks and responsibilities can I expect as a photogrammetrist?

As a photogrammetrist, your daily responsibilities usually include processing aerial or satellite imagery, generating maps and 3D models, and ensuring data accuracy through detailed analysis. You'll often collaborate with surveyors, GIS specialists, and engineers to support construction, urban planning, or environmental projects. Quality control, documentation, and communicating technical findings to non-experts are regular parts of the job. The role often requires both fieldwork (such as collecting geospatial data) and office-based analysis using specialized software, offering a dynamic and varied workday.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive in the Photogrammetry position, and why are they important?

To thrive in photogrammetry, you need a solid background in mathematics, geography, and spatial analysis, typically supported by a degree in geomatics, surveying, or a related field. Familiarity with photogrammetric software (such as Agisoft Metashape or Pix4D), GIS platforms, CAD tools, and knowledge of remote sensing technologies is crucial, and some employers may prefer professional certifications in geospatial sciences. Strong attention to detail, analytical thinking, and effective communication skills help distinguish top performers. These competencies are essential for producing high-quality spatial data and collaborating across multidisciplinary teams in mapping and surveying projects.
