Job description

Position Overview

The Clinic Nurse holds a critical role in ensuring the optimal experience and recovery of our patients across all surgeons at The Plastics Clinic & Spa. This position actively engages in supporting individuals through both their pre-operative and post-operative care journeys. In this dynamic and demanding role, you will have the privilege of working closely with patients at various stages of their surgical journey, ensuring their comfort, safety, and overall satisfaction. You will assist them during both pre-operative and post-operative care, where your keen observation, compassionate support, and professional expertise will play a vital role in their recovery and well-being.

Responsibilities:
Pre-Operative Appointments:
  • Conduct pre-operative appointments with patients, involving tasks such as vital sign monitoring, accurate charting, measurement for garments, verification of implant sizes, confirmation of lab results, comprehensive consent reviews, provision of patient instructions, and the capture of preoperative photos. As a clinic nurse, you will exemplify a standard of world-class service.
  • Prepare surgical packets efficiently and transmit them promptly to the appropriate surgical center. Ensure the delivery of prescribed medications to the pharmacy.
  • -Utilize your nursing expertise during pre-ops to identify any medical history or concerns that may not have been previously detected during consultations.
Post-Operative Appointments
  • -Administer post-operative appointments for patients, including vital sign assessments, detailed charting, photo documentation, wound care, dressing changes, drain and suture removal, and patient education on post-operative recovery. As a clinic nurse, it's essential to be an attentive listener, as patients may be emotionally affected and may require reassurance and support.
  • Exercise discretion to maintain patient privacy and dignity. Establish and sustain trust and confidence in your professionalism, ensuring patients feel comfortable and well-informed regarding their post-operative care.
Nurse Duties:
  • Oversee the status of blood work, PCP clearances, and other tests as directed by the physician. Maintain a relentless commitment to follow through and follow up with patients to ensure all necessary labs are completed before their pre-operative appointment. Complete FMLA paperwork within a week of the initial phone call.
Room Management:
  • Prepare clinic rooms at the beginning of each day, including turning on lights, TV with a slideshow and music, white noise machines, and confirming the availability of all required supplies. Maintain cleanliness and stock levels throughout the day.
  • Close clinic rooms at the end of each day, which involves cleaning, turning off electronic devices, disposing of garbage and biohazard materials, and restocking rooms as necessary. Conduct thorough disinfection of all surfaces and ensure proper organization.
Communication:
  • Prioritize responsiveness by promptly addressing all messages on Symplast and Weave. Maintain an unwavering commitment to follow up on previous commitments and patients under your care.
  • Communicate effectively with the Nurse Lead or management regarding patient concerns or any personal matters. Practice direct, assertive, and professional communication, emphasizing kindness, honesty, and truthfulness.
Initiative & Accountability:
  • Demonstrate proactive behavior in the absence of specific guidance. Identify and address tasks that require attention and maximize productivity during idle periods. Accept responsibility and hold yourself accountable for any errors or oversights.
Other Duties:
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Must hold a valid Registered Nurse (RN) certification in the state of Utah.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a surgical office setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a professional demeanor and effective communication skills.
  • Comfortable providing patient education and information on surgical procedures.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical records to document patient details.
  • Willingness to adhere to all policies and procedures, with a strong understanding of the importance of medical compliance.
