Job description

Description:

BLOX is revolutionizing the construction industry by integrating advanced manufacturing principles with innovative technology to deliver high-quality, modular building solutions. We are driven by a mission to rethink how buildings are designed, fabricated, and delivered, ensuring efficiency, scalability, and sustainability.

We are seeking a detail-driven Quality Control (QC) Technician I to perform in-process and final quality inspections at our Bessemer, AL manufacturing facility.

Job Responsibilities

· Perform in-process and final quality inspections of assigned units against manufacturing drawing package elements (QC Sheets, Finish Sheets) under the direction of a QC Technician II or Specialist.

· Follow all established quality inspection processes: complete Dozuki guide steps accurately, verify regulatory labels, capture required HoloBuilder photo documentation, and apply Final QC check sheets, stickers, and labels.

· Support Measurement and Test activities: assist with Plumbing, MedGas, Electrical, and Welding visual identification checks and confirm all required testing identifications are present before sign-off.

· Verify that paper travelers are fully completed by operations before Final QC sign-off and flag incomplete travelers to a QC Technician II, Specialist, or QC Lead.

· Document quality findings in Autodesk ACC (BIM 360) and enter Quality Non-Conformances that are complete and clearly described.

· Escalate unresolved or recurring quality issues and participate in 5-Why problem-solving discussions as directed.

· Follow Built-in Quality verification checks and inspection criteria defined for each line station and Final QC, reporting deviations from standard immediately.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of inspection tools, gauges, and workstation areas, and report damaged or out-of-calibration equipment to the QC Lead.

· Actively participate in quality control training programs and demonstrate proficiency in BLOX QC standards, Dozuki guides, and BIM 360 procedures.

· Support continuous improvement by communicating observations and process improvement ideas to the QC Technician II or QC Lead.

· Comply with all BLOX safety policies and procedures, and perform additional duties as assigned by the QC Lead or QC Supervisor.

Requirements:

Job Skills & Qualifications

· High school diploma or equivalent (GED accepted).

· Ability to read and follow manufacturing drawings, QC Sheets, assembly instructions, and quality checklists, with the drive to build blueprint literacy on the job.

· Basic proficiency with computer applications (email, spreadsheets, digital forms) and the ability to learn BIM 360, Dozuki, and HoloBuilder with training.

· Consistent process compliance: follows established inspection steps completely and seeks clarification when uncertain rather than proceeding without confirmation.

· Strong attention to detail: identifies visible defects, labeling errors, and incomplete documentation, and records findings accurately without prompting.

· Coachability and learning orientation: receives feedback constructively, applies corrections immediately, and takes ownership of personal development toward Level 2 certification.

· Clear communication with operations and QC teammates, and a positive contribution to team productivity and morale in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

· Alignment with the BLOX core values: makes things better, creativity and simplicity, intellectual rigor, bold action and grit.

· Prior experience (6 months or more) in a manufacturing, construction, or quality inspection role a plus.

· Exposure to structured quality tools (checklists, inspection records, non-conformance reporting) a plus.

· Familiarity with modular construction, MEP systems, or residential and commercial building standards a plus.

· Interest in pursuing BLOX QC Level 2 certification and the ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) credential a plus.

Work Environment

· Majority of work performed on the manufacturing plant floor (non-conditioned space), requiring extended walking, standing, and close visual inspection.

· Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs and climb step ladders.

· Full-time, non-exempt. Core hours Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with extended or flexible hours as required.

· Minimal travel; no regular travel requirement at this level.

Benefits:
