They are skilled in replacing cracked glass, malfunctioning LCDs, and dealing with issues such as unresponsive touch screens. These technicians often work in repair shops, service centers, or as part of mobile repair services, ensuring that devices are restored to proper working condition. In addition to screen repairs, they may handle other minor hardware problems related to smartphones.

What are some common challenges faced in a phone screen repair role, and how can I prepare for them?

One of the main challenges in a phone screen repair role is dealing with a wide variety of phone models and screen types, each requiring different tools and repair techniques. You'll also encounter situations where underlying issues, such as damaged connectors or water exposure, complicate what initially appeared to be a straightforward repair. To succeed, it's important to stay updated on the latest device releases, regularly practice repair techniques, and develop strong problem-solving skills. Many technicians also recommend building a toolkit with high-quality, specialized tools to handle unexpected repair scenarios efficiently.

At Batteries Plus, we’re more than just a retail store—we’re the neighborhood tech hub. We are looking for a part-time, tech-savvy individual who combines a love for hardware repair with great people skills to join our Erie location.

No two days are the same. You’ll split your time between being a tech hero and a customer champion:

  • The Tech Work: Diagnose and repair smartphones, tablets, and devices (screens, batteries, charging ports, and components). You’ll also cut keys and reprogram high-tech key fobs.
  • The Heavy Lifting: You aren’t just working on microchips! You’ll test, install, and build custom battery packs, and you must be comfortable lifting and moving heavy inventory (up to 50+ lbs batteries).
  • The Customer Experience: Greet customers, listen to their tech troubles, and match them with the perfect solutions from our massive 50,000+ product catalog.
  • Store Vibes: Keep the store looking sharp, manage inventory, handle cash register transactions, and crush team sales goals.

Who You Are (The Qualifications)

  • The Tech Passion: You have actual experience repairing cell phones/tablets and genuinely enjoy working with small parts and tools.
  • The People Person: You’re friendly, motivated, and can explain technical solutions to non-technical customers without using confusing jargon.
  • The Grind: You’re organized, reliable, can do basic retail math, and have a "can-do" team attitude.
  • The Basics: At least 18 years old, High School Diploma/equivalent, and have reliable transportation to get to work.
  • The Muscle: Physically able to lift 50+ lbs repeatedly to install larger automotive/commercial batteries.

Availability & Logistics

  • Job Type: Part-time (In-person)
  • Our Store Hours: Mon–Fri 8 AM–7 PM | Sat 9 AM–6 PM | Sun 10 AM–3 PM (We need you to be flexible within these windows!)
