Description

American Traveler is seeking an experienced Med Surg RN for a night shift position requiring an active IL license and at least 2 years of experience.

Details
  • Work in the Medical Surgical unit of an acute care hospital
  • Night shift schedule with 3x12-hour shifts (6:45 PM to 7:15 AM)
  • Required to work every other weekend
  • No on-call responsibilities
  • Floating required within the hospital or to nearby affiliate facilities as needed
  • May be required to care for patients at up to a 1:7 ratio when necessary
  • Must be willing to care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients
Requirements
  • Active IL RN license in hand required at time of application
  • Current BLS certification required (AHA or Red Cross accepted; RQI cards not accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Med Surg RN experience required
  • PICC line management experience required
  • Experience starting and maintaining IVs required
  • Cerner charting experience preferred
  • Skills in IV therapy/phlebotomy, blood product administration, colostomy/ileostomy care, feeding tube management, continuous bladder irrigation, PCA medication management, surgical drain care, tracheostomy care, and wound care/wound vac

  • Facility is a Level I trauma center and Magnet-designated hospital with 562 staffed beds
  • Local candidates accepted with no radius restriction
  • First-time travelers welcome to apply
  • Previous permanent or PRN employees must have been separated from the facility for at least 12 months before returning as a traveler
  • Must work 2 of the 3 major holidays
  • Only 1 winter holiday off may be requested
  • Up to 5 non-holiday RTO days may be auto-approved; additional requests require facility approval
  • Scrubs may be any solid color
  • Parking permit required at no cost, arranged during orientation
