This role is responsible for providing technical and strategic expertise as a member of the Federal Strategies Team within Advisory. This position delivers strategic analysis, policy insight, and subject matter expertise to support clients in achieving successful project outcomes while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction. The role partners closely with senior Advisory leaders to advance Federal Strategies initiatives, develop and promote best practices, and strengthen the firm's thought leadership and capabilities.

What You'll Do:

  • Applies expertise and guidance on federal, state, and local policies.
  • Interprets public policies and creates engagement strategies and communication plans.
  • Works with local offices and PMC teams to implement engagement and communications plans.
  • Acts as subject matter expert to provide strategic advice and analysis, and engage in marketing and business development, as well as preparing reports and presentations to HNTB leadership and senior client personnel.
  • Assists with the successful contracting and execution of projects, working closely with regional HNTB staff and office leadership. Supports tasks and major workstreams, interfaces with senior Advisory and client leadership to ensure 4for4 delivery while managing client relationships and day to day interactions with appropriate counterparts.
  • Prepares technical materials for client engagements, including strategic analyses, commercial documentation, technical provisions, procurement documents, and other materials pertaining to applicable subject matter focus.
  • Trains and instructs line personnel on innovative delivery and other Advisory disciplines. Advises on business planning and supports marketing efforts of the line organization.
  • Works with the line organization in a senior support role on strategically important client and project pursuits, providing strategic input and market knowledge to expand service offerings and enhance win probabilities.
  • Mentors and oversees the work of junior Advisory staff through performance management and encouragement of professional development opportunities.
  • Contributes to strategic planning for Advisory and assists with thought leadership initiatives.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need:

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field and 10 years of relevant experience.
  • Master's degree in relevant field and8 years of relevant experience.
  • PhD/JD in relevant field and 6 years of relevant experience.

What We Prefer:

  • Majority of work experience in a directly relevant role, including as a consultant leading advisory engagements
  • Specialized knowledge and strong experience in transportation policy
  • Broad knowledge of the infrastructure industry, key players, policies, existing programs, and precedent transactions
  • Strong professional connections across the infra industry, well known and respected by industry peers, active in industry organizations
  • Excellent communications, writing, quantitative skills
  • Professional demeanor, able to independently interface with senior client leaders
  • Strategic thinker, able to see the broader picture beyond their assigned role and identify and advance opportunities to enhance service offerings
  • Possesses subject matter expertise
  • Deep understanding of consulting business and key value drivers for HNTB

The approximate pay range for Virginia is $207,686.38 - $331,758.78. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position based on all selected locations within the state at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual's qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
