Job description

Kidron Bethel Village is looking for a full-time Wellness Center Director to join our team!
 

Position Overview:

This role is responsible for managing the daily operations of the Bluestem Wellness Center – North Newton, including programs, member relations, administration, facility operations and financial oversight. The director will lead the promotion of the wellness center services to residents, staff and community, ensuring excellent customer service, programming, safety and smooth operations. This position collaborates with other Bluestem Wellness Centers to improve overall services, align operations, and promote teamwork.

Essential Job Functions:

Facility and Equipment Management

  • Oversee operations of the fitness center, equipment, pool, and hot tub.
  • Perform and coordinate pool and hot tub chemical management, cleaning, maintenance, and repair coordination, including occasional after-hours pool maintenance.
  • Perform and coordinate fitness equipment checks, preventive maintenance, and repair coordination.
  • Maintain cleanliness of the fitness room, fitness equipment, and pool room.

Group Exercise Classes and Programming:

  • Coordinate and lead both land and aquatic programming focused primarily on residents.
  • Manage class and programming schedule and communication.

Member Relations

  • Maintain a positive presence and build relationships with members.
  • Provide equipment and facility orientations.
  • Demonstrate, teach and promote safe and appropriate exercise techniques and equipment use.
  • Collaborate with other departments to promote wellness center services to residents.

Membership Management and Administrative Duties:

  • Perform and coordinate membership sales, data management, and invoicing.
  • Prepare reports on membership, program attendance, facility use, and promotion utilization.
  • Develop and maintain corporate or group partnerships.
  • Manage the Wellness Center budget, process invoices, and track expenses.

Supervisory Duties:

  • Hire, train and supervise instructors and department support staff.
  • Manage staff schedule, timecards, evaluations, and related duties.

Safety and Emergencies

  • Respond to emergencies within the wellness center, ensuring appropriate protocols are followed.
  • Monitor pool and facility safety during open hours.
  • Maintain a safe and welcoming environment for all members and staff.

Employee Wellness Support

  • Provide Essential Functions Testing (EFT) for new employees
  • Assist with promotion of the wellness center at New Employee Orientation
  • Actively participate in Employee Wellness Committee and support related initiatives.
  • Assist with wellness events for employees, such as biometric screening.

Support Services

  • Serve as the main point of contact for class instructors under contract, overseeing and coordinating the overall outcome of deliverables provided.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Must be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older.
  • Prefer a Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, kinesiology or physical education but will consider Associate’s degree with emphasis in exercise and fitness science or two-years of work experience in fitness instruction and arthritis water aerobics training coupled with certification from American Council of Exercise (ACE) or National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). If not certified must be able to complete certification within 12-months of hire date.
  • Must have current Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and First Aid Certification.
 

Physical Requirements:

Medium Work – Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
