Job description

Cardiac Rehabilitation Specialist

Works with patients to support and encourage them to meet their health and life goals. Design and carefully monitor programs patient safety and progress through Pritikin ICR. Friendly, accommodating, and encouraging.

Qualifications: Minimum of one-year clinical experience in Cardiac Rehab program preferred, with emphasis on wellness, communication skills, customer orientation, and ability to lead through demonstration. Desire to work with a comprehensive health care team. Committed to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff. Expertise in the human body's metabolic response to short- and long-term physical activity for ICR. Advanced knowledge of exercise physiology, nutrition, risk factor modification strategies, counseling techniques, and uses of behavior change programs and technologies in CR/SP services. Passion for helping patients improve their health, experience in fitness, and effective communication skills. Respect for the human body, highly motivational, able to provide reassurance and instill confidence in patients performing exercises. Experience working in cardiac rehab preferred. Knowledge of exercise testing protocols, indications/contraindications of exercise and health, training techniques and administration. EKG coursework and experience preferred. Desire to work with a comprehensive health care team. Committed to a healthy lifestyle as a model for participants and staff.

Education / Licensure: Bachelor's Degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, Recreation, Physiology or related field. Certification in CPR preferred. ACSM Clinical Exercise Specialist (CES) certification preferred. ACLS certification required within 3 months of hire or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times.
