Job description

This position serves as the primary access 

 for the fitness center and all programs that are encompassed within the fitness center to include the Cardiac Rehab and Employee Wellness Program. Provides individualized rehab program to meet personal and family needs of patients. Position is responsible for outpatient classes. Position requires understanding of cardiovascular disease. This position may also assist with daily therapy ancillary tasks to include but not limited to direct patient care within the scope of the Physical Therapist and Occupational Therapist practice act for Outpatient and Inpatient services, communication and marketing for fitness and wellness program, and assistance with patient exercise programming within the Cardiac Rehab Department. Paramedic/EMT/RT/PT background is a plus

  • Required:
    • Education: Associate or bachelor's degree in exercise science or a related field of study
    • Experience: Candidates must have at least two years of experience with reading and interpreting cardiac rhythms, moderate to extensive understanding of health and wellness assessment, fitness evaluation, and exercise prescription for individuals that are deemed appropriate to participate in cardiac rehab, general exercise and fitness programs.
    • Licensure/Certification: ACLS/BLS Certified
  • Preferred:
    • Licensure/Certification: Licensed Personal Trainer, Certified Strength and Conditioning Coach, and CPR certified. Paramedic/EMT/RT / PT background is a plus
  • Comprehensive knowledge of health and wellness programming, exercise prescription and utilization of exercise equipment (cardiovascular and strength training equipment).
  • Assesses patient's physical, psychosocial, educational needs on admission. Sets realistic goals. Individualizes patient's plan of care.
  • Requests an accurate clinical history as necessary for fitness assessments instructions and specific preparations to the individual scheduling the procedure.
  • Receives Physician orders and schedules procedures by both telephone and electronic media.
  • Obtains provisional and maintains communication with rehab staff members daily.
  • Other duties as assigned.
