Job description

Personal Trainer/Adaptive Coach

Adaptive Fitness, Parkinson’s, Older Adults & Special Populations

Quinn’s Gym – Carmichael, CA
$27.50–$30.00/hour
Part-Time

Quinn’s Gym is looking for Exercise Science and Kinesiology professionals who want to use their education to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives.

We are a private strength-training and adaptive-fitness facility in Carmichael serving older adults, people with Parkinson’s disease, neurodivergent children and adults, and traditional personal-training clients.

We are currently expanding our coaching team and have opportunities in two areas.

Morning / Early Afternoon Coaching

This position focuses primarily on:

  • One-on-one personal training
  • Older adults
  • People with Parkinson’s disease
  • Strength and functional fitness
  • Rock Steady Boxing participants

Previous boxing coaching or boxing-fitness experience is helpful, but it is not required. We can teach the right candidate our approach.

Afternoon / Evening RISE Adaptive Fitness

This position focuses primarily on our RISE adaptive fitness program for neurodivergent children, teens, and adults.

For this role, we are particularly interested in someone who genuinely enjoys working with children.

The ideal candidate is patient, energetic, creative, adaptable, and comfortable working with children who may learn, communicate, behave, or respond differently.

RISE coaches use strength training, movement, balance, coordination, games, challenges, and play to help participants become stronger, more confident, and more physically capable.

Qualifications

We are looking for candidates with a bachelor’s degree in:

  • Exercise Science
  • Exercise Physiology
  • Kinesiology
  • Or a closely related field

Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have:

  • A good understanding of exercise physiology, biomechanics, and strength training
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Patience and the ability to work with people of differing abilities
  • Reliability and professionalism
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • A willingness to learn our training methods and special-population programs

Experience in any of the following is particularly helpful:

  • Neurodivergent or autistic children
  • Youth fitness or youth sports
  • Adaptive physical activity
  • Older adults
  • Parkinson’s disease or other neurological conditions
  • Strength training
  • Personal training
  • Boxing or boxing fitness
  • Special education, recreation, or related programs

You do not need experience in every one of these areas. We are willing to train an exceptional candidate with the appropriate educational background, temperament, and desire to learn.

Why Quinn’s Gym?

Many of the people we serve would not be well served in a traditional commercial gym.

Our coaches learn how to adapt exercise to the person in front of them—whether that person is a child with autism, an older adult who wants to remain independent, or someone working to maintain function while living with Parkinson’s disease.

This is an opportunity to apply what you learned in Exercise Science or Kinesiology in a very practical setting while developing experience working with populations that require thoughtful and individualized coaching.

Compensation: $27.50–$30.00/hour, depending on experience and qualifications.

Location: Quinn’s Gym, Carmichael, California

Schedule: Part-time. Opportunities are available primarily during:

  • Mornings / early afternoons
  • Afternoons / evenings

Please indicate which schedule and population interests you most:

A. Parkinson’s / Older Adults / Personal Training

B. RISE / Neurodivergent Children & Adults

C. Both

Please submit your résumé and a brief introduction describing your educational background, any relevant coaching or special-population experience, and why this work interests you.
