Job description

The Personal Trainer will assist members in setting and achieving their fitness goals while emphasizing a high level of customer service and professionalism. This position will also tailor individual plans for members and provide the one-on-one instruction that is needed to achieve the goals. Each Personal Trainer will be responsible for intentionally connecting with individuals as to demonstrate their value by advising and selling personal training programs and packages.
This role has an additional job responsibility of "Healthy Lifestyle Specialist" which includes wellness floor hours to complete orientations/demos and any other responsibilities given by the Healthy Living Director.
Essential Functions / Job Duties:
  • Maintains 10 hour per week personal training hours and dollars (GOALS) assigned by Healthy Living Director by driving new clients and retaining existing clients.
  • Delivers safe, effective, fun and interesting workouts (in that order) to all fitness-training clients.
  • Answers questions from members to support them in achieving their goals related to healthy living.
  • Maintains working knowledge of wellness and trends to provide effective information and support to members.
  • Through interaction with members, advises and sells personal training programs and packages.
  • Has knowledge of and is able to communicate all programs and services being offered in the Family Center.
  • Promotes member participation in all programs in the Family Center.
  • Follows Healthy Living Foundation Service Standards in addition to:
    • Meet and Greet every Member
    • Learn Member's Names and use them
    • Starts and Ends Sessions on Time
    • Conduct all assigned member appointments with high level of professionalism, providing the member appropriate information and support to assist them in meeting their fitness goals.
  • Maintains themselves visible and approachable at all times while working the floor
  • Reports for work as assigned, if unable to work secure the appropriate substitute.
  • Consistently completes assignments professionally and on time.
  • Maintains accurate records, data entry and private the member information.
  • Assists in the cleaning and maintaining of safe equipment, wellness floor area and appropriate offices.
  • Ensures that all necessary equipment is available for member use and inspects equipment to be sure that it is in safe working order. Reports damaged or out service equipment. Reports all maintenance issues immediately.
  • Monitors that the wellness floor is neat and equipment used is returned to its proper location in an organized manner before shift is over.
  • Assists Healthy Living Director in meeting department specific annual fund raising goals via specific individual support and direction provided through by Healthy Living Director.
  • Daily reconciliation of personal training appointments in Mind Body application
  • Other duties, as assigned

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities / Position Requirements:
  • College Degree preferred, High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years related fitness experience preferred.
  • Must possess strong communication skills and computer skills is preferred.
  • Minimum 2-3 years of customer service, sales experience is preferred.
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal skills; able to work with individuals at all levels.

Certificates and Licenses:
  • Required professional certifications: NCCA accredited PT certification and/or BS in Exercise Science or Kinesiology. Some examples of accepted certifications include ACE, ISSA, NASM, ACSM, NSCA, NSCF, and AFAA. The VP of Operations and / or COO will evaluate all other certifications on a case-by-case basis.
  • Professional certification MUST be obtained within 90 days of hire for those candidates who hold a BS in Exercise Science or Kinesiology. Candidates without degree are REQUIRED to have one of the listed certifications.
  • First Aid / CPR certification must be attained within 30 days of hire.

As a condition of employment, you will be required to submit to and satisfactorily clear a thorough Level II fingerprint background screening.
