EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Health Promotion, or related field Exercise Programming in a healthcare environment preferred. LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, and/or REGISTRATION: BCLS required ACSM Exercise Specialist or similar certification required (must be completed within 12 months of employment) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: 1. Uses appropriate teaching methods to present education regarding functional ability, risk factors, and contraindications to exercise appropriate to the adult/geriatric population. 2. Assists with the development of participant goals and objectives appropriate for the specific population by participating in weekly and monthly team reviews and by implementing of team recommendations as documented in the patient's chart. 3. Evaluates patient progress and modifies exercise prescription. 4. Makes recommendations regarding advancement. Reviews participant records and remains knowledgeable about pertinent aspects related to physical and emotional status. Documents relevant changes and/or occurrences as they occur in participants' chart/record. 5. Displays a high level of customer relations as evidenced by no more than two (2) reported incidences per calendar year of negative interactions including telephone, personal, or written complaint. Reports customer complaints or concerns to Coordinator/Director within one (1) day of complaint. 6. Effectively promotes a positive work environment while at work and outside the facility. Demonstrates a high level of teamwork, cooperation, and respect for co-workers. Participates in marketing the Center and its programs, both in and outside the facility, on an ongoing basis. 7. Communicates effectively with physicians, health care workers, family, and participants to ensure safe, optimal treatment and care for the participant and to facilitate program operations. Assists and updates the HS Coordinator/Director with program planning, budget issues, equipment needs, identification of future services and other relevant issues. 8. Performs specified screening assessments as needed (e.g. blood glucose, blood pressure, fitness profile, etc.) 9. Attends and participates in the Center's special events and volunteers for at least one (1) Health System fund raiser each year. 10. Teaches group exercise classes and programs, as needed, as part of normal working hours. 11. Participates in all emergency drills/reviews and stays current in CPR, AED, and other relative certifications. Maintains competencies in all related areas. 12. Upholds a professional working relationship at all times and adheres to department rules. Practices teamwork and adheres to Standards of Behavior. 13.
