Cliff Berry, Inc. is currently looking for an experienced Environment Staff Scientist for our Fort Lauderdale location who will be responsible for the daily technical participation and execution of operational/logistical field services, and provide professional representation of Cliff Berry, Inc.'s customers. Additional responsibilities will include providing technical support to other departments and to customers, working with suppliers and vendors as needed to properly execute the department's daily field services in the timely execution of projects safely.
Essential Job Functions
  • Ensure that health and safety protocols are strictly adhered to at all times, following established policies and procedures to prioritize the well-being of employees and customers.
  • Field services required for all technical environmental projects, including but not limited to sample collection, legal documentation of fieldwork, personnel and activities supervision, direction, and management during onsite activities.
  • Responsible for project execution including placing or receiving phone calls from potential project request through project preparation, project direction and project completion to include report preparation as required for compliance to government rules and regulations.
  • Ability to work within the Corporate Accounting software as required for Project Management
  • Able to perform duties while on call as needed for emergency response activities as well as company on call management duties after required training.
  • Manage project execution related to spill response as needed.
  • Accurately produce technical writing pertaining to jobs in progress to completion.
  • Aptitude and willingness to assist on all aspects of a job.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage time efficiently and effectively.
  • Self-starter who can manage multiple projects while working both independently and within a team environment.
  • Provide scientific based guidance and recommendations to clients.
  • Manipulate and interpret data from various sources.

Skills/Knowledge
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Upholds a professional image to those both inside and outside the firm.
  • Knowledge of SAP and customer service procedures
  • Shows a high level of organizational skills creating an organized, clean and professional office environment.
  • Shows proficiency with Microsoft 365 Suite: including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Position Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in science or engineering required or 2 to 4 years of experience in environmental related field services.
  • Comprehensive background knowledge of the scientific process.
  • Proficiency with CAD - GIS

Work Environment

The employee is frequently exposed to extreme temperatures, wet and/or humid conditions, hazardous and non-hazardous chemicals and material. The noise level in the environment is moderately noisy.
Exterior environment involves hazards, requiring the use of protective equipment that conforms to OSHA regulations and some physical discomfort due to temperature, dust and noise. May be required to work in confined spaces, on ladders and rooftops. May be required to work in adverse weather conditions. Hazards include possible exposure to toxic, corrosive, or flammable chemicals. Work involves being around dangerous equipment.
