Description
Job Title: Adjunct Professor / Environmental Studies and Science
Position Summary
The Environmental Studies and Science Department invites applications for two part-time Adjunct Professors in Environmental Studies and Science for the Spring 2027 semester. We are looking for engaging instructors dedicated to academic excellence, student mentorship, and innovative teaching methods. The ideal candidates will teach undergraduate/graduate courses in environmental science (lab) and/or environmental studies (e.g. environmental justice, climate change). We expect to hire one science-focused candidate to teach lab courses and one studies-focused candidate to teach courses related to human geography, political ecology, etc.
Key Responsibilities
  • Instruction: Deliver high-quality, engaging instruction for assigned course(s) in accordance with course syllabi and institutional standards.
  • Course Preparation: Develop syllabi, lecture materials, assignments, and assessments that align with departmental learning outcomes.
  • Student Engagement & Support: Maintain office hours (virtual or in-person) to provide timely feedback, academic support, and guidance to students.
  • Grading & Assessment: Evaluate student coursework, exams, and projects, providing constructive feedback and submitting final grades by established deadlines.
  • Compliance: Adhere to university policies, FERPA guidelines, and departmental standards.

Requirements
  • Education: Master's Degree / Ph.D. / Terminal Degree in environmental studies/science or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Teaching Experience: Prior teaching experience at the higher education level preferred.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
