Job description

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Audubon is currently seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist for our Houston, TX office or Canonsburg, PA office. The Senior Environmental Scientist will be responsible for the coordination, implementation, execution, and completion of assigned projects ensuring consistency with company strategy, commitments and goals. Reports to the Senior Project Manager. The successful Environmental Planner/Scientist will provide project support to project managers during the execution of projects.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Familiarity with natural resources permitting at the federal and state level, specifically USACE and USFWS
  • Familiarity with surveys required to successfully complete project permitting
  • Experience conducting wetland delineations and habitat surveys
  • Creates and executes project work plans and revisions as appropriate to meet changing needs and requirements.
  • Prepares deliverables and permit applications.
  • Effectively applies Audubon methodology and enforces project standards.
  • Prepares for engagement reviews and quality assurance procedures.
  • Minimizes our exposure and risk on project.
  • Ensures project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Remains completely accessible to the project manager during life of project, ensuring specific requests are processed timely and appropriately.
  • Participates as a contributing member of assigned Business Unit.
  • Assist Sr. PM and other members of the Project Management Team in project completion
  • Consistently acknowledges and appreciates each team member's contributions.
  • Motivates team to work together in the most efficient manner.
  • Keeps track of lessons learned and shares those lessons with team members.
  • Mitigates team conflict and communication problems.
  • Suggest areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions.
  • Leads and/or act as a member of internal teams/task forces.

HEALTH, SAFETY, AND ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • All employees are responsible for supporting Audubon Companies' Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. This includes:
  • Performing duties in a manner that protects personal and team health and safety
  • Participating in required HSE training, meetings, and reporting activities
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, near misses, and unsafe conditions
  • Following safe work practices and complying with applicable regulatory requirement

EXPERIENCE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Experience Required:
    • Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Studies or Chemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering is preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years of industry related experience as a planner/scientist or similar role.
  • Strong work experience with natural resources permitting at the federal and state level specifically USACE and USFWS
  • Experience Preferred:
    • Wetland certificate
    • 5+ years of experience with linear survey
  • Works to instill a sense of project ownership and accountability.
  • Coordinates and works with other departments (Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Finance and Accounting) to ensure the timely delivery of quality goods and services which meet or exceed our customer's expectations.
  • Takes an ACTIVE role in developing their skills and progressing professionally.
  • Identifies opportunities for team member improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change.
  • Complies with and helps to enforce standard policies and procedures
