Position Overview:

H3M Environmental is seeking a Senior Environmental Technical Advisor to provide advanced technical leadership on complex assessment and remediation projects across Western Canada.

This role is designed for an experienced environmental professional with strong regulatory judgement, hands-on consulting experience, and the confidence to make and defend technical decisions. The successful candidate will guide projects to regulatory closure, support strategic client outcomes, and serve as a trusted technical advisor to both clients and internal teams.

As a Technical Advisor, you will work closely with Project Managers, regulators, and clients, providing technical leadership from early planning through to final closure. This role includes mentorship and quality oversight responsibilities but does not include formal people management or direct reports.


Technical Leadership & Project Execution

  • Provide seniorlevel technical oversight for environmental assessments, remediation, and reclamation programs.
  • Review and interpret environmental data to support defensible closure strategies.
  • Ensure technical accuracy, regulatory alignment, and consistency across all deliverables.


Regulatory Strategy & Closure

  • Lead the development of regulatorready remediation, reclamation, and closure submissions.
  • Interface directly with regulators to clarify requirements, resolve issues, and support approvals.
  • Identify technical and regulatory risks early and implement practical mitigation strategies.


Client & Business Support

  • Act as a technical point of contact for key clients, supporting longterm relationships.
  • Provide technical input into scopes, proposals, and work capture activities.
  • Support delivery teams with strategic guidance on complex or sensitive sites.


Mentorship & Quality Assurance

  • Mentor and support junior and intermediate staff in technical methods and regulatory interpretation.
  • Review technical work to ensure defensibility and consistency with best practices.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, Agrology, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in environmental consulting or industry, preferably within the upstream, midstream and/or downstream oil and gas, municipal, or industrial sectors.
  • Eligible for or currently holding a professional designation with a recognized regulatory body (e.g., P.Ag., P.Geo., P.Eng.).
