Job Description
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry in the School of Natural Sciences and Mathematics at The University of Texas at Dallas (UT Dallas) is seeking outstanding candidates for tenure-track and tenured faculty positions at the level of Assistant, Associate, and Full Professor in Computational Chemistry and in Biochemistry, broadly defined. For the position in Computational Chemistry, specific areas of interest include, but are not limited to, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and data-driven research applied to (bio)chemical sciences. For the position in Biochemistry, areas of interest include, but are not limited to, enzymology, biophysics, chemical proteomics, and chemical biology. The candidates are expected to lead a strong and internationally recognized research program supported by extramural funding from federal and state agencies. Teaching responsibilities will include undergraduate and graduate level courses in the core curriculum and in the candidate's specialization area. In addition to research and teaching, the position involves service in the department and UT Dallas community.
The desired starting date for tenure-track Assistant Professor appointments is fall 2024, whereas later starting dates are possible for Associate and Full Professor appointments.
Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience: Candidates must have a PhD in Chemistry or a related field, and post-doctoral experience. Candidates are expected to demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative, engaging, and dynamic environment comprised of individuals with a range of backgrounds, skills, and perspectives. We are seeking candidates able to produce research and scholarly or creative achievements that enhance the program and the discipline, and able to deliver high quality teaching using evidence-based practices to effectively engage students from a range of backgrounds and experiences.
The Department
The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at UT Dallas offers BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Chemistry. The department features state-of-the-art research space, which include High-Performance Computing, NMR Spectroscopy, Mass Spectrometry, X-ray Diffraction, Flow Cytometry, Molecular and Protein Analysis, Imaging and Histology, and Genome Center core facilities. The close proximity to other physical science departments at UT Dallas as well as the UT Southwestern Medical Center offers outstanding opportunities for collaborative research.
