Job description

Description
The Department of Occupational Therapy at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga (UTC) seeks a full-time 9-month, tenure track faculty member in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy (OTD) Program. Within this role, opportunities exist for maintaining some clinical practice.
Effective Date: August 1, 2026 or later depending upon availability of the selected candidate.
Responsibilities:
  • Teach and advise students within the OTD Program
  • Engage in research with regular scholarly dissemination
  • Engage in department, college, university service and/or professional service
  • Contribute to OT Department outcome assessment, OTD Program accreditation activities, curriculum and other continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Engage in ongoing professional development in andragogy and clinical occupational therapist skills as related to teaching assignments

Qualifications
Required quali๏ฌcations:
  • Terminal academic degree (e.g., PhD, EdD)
  • Occupational Therapy degree
  • Tennessee licensed or eligible
  • American Occupational Therapy Association member
  • 3+ years full-time clinical experience
  • Expertise for lead teaching of
    • research methodologies and evidenced-based practice
    • additional program content areas related to clinical expertise
    • additional program content areas related to evolving curricular need(s)

Preferred quali๏ฌcations:
  • Experience in lead teaching at the doctoral level
  • Experience in research with peer-reviewed product dissemination
  • Service and leadership in the occupational therapy profession
  • Orthopedic clinical expertise with Certified Hand Therapist (CMT), Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist (COMT), or other specialty certi๏ฌcation
  • Clinical experience in multiple healthcare settings (e.g., outpatient, acute care, home health, skilled nursing, inpatient rehab)
  • Clinical experience with management of patients with signi๏ฌcant multi-system involvement
