Applicants should have a PhD and/or MD with appropriate research expertise and are expected to possess an outstanding record of high-quality publications, a strong potential to secure extramural research funding, and a clear commitment to promoting workplace diversity in all its forms.
The Neuroscience Department consistently ranks in the top 20 in NIH awards. Successful candidates will benefit from a highly collaborative research environment and a competitive start-up package in a basic science department that contains nearly $17 million in extramural grant awards, active core facilities, and a strong commitment to faculty mentoring and collegiality. The department's strong addiction research focus includes a NIAAA P50 Charleston Alcohol Research Center, a successful PhD graduate program, and two NIH-funded (NIDA, NIAAA) T32 training grants for pre- and postdoctoral scholars studying addiction sciences.
MUSC is located in the coastal city of Charleston, SC - a city known for its arts and culture, higher education, architecture, top-rated restaurants, and beautiful beaches. Charleston receives perennial honors as a most desirable place to visit and live.
