As a Manager, HR Accounting operations, you will be trusted to oversee critical accounting activities related to payroll, compensation, and HR-related financial reporting while serving as a key business partner across HR, Payroll Operations, Finance, Tax, and Global Reporting functions. This role combines hands-on accounting expertise with oversight responsibilities, ensuring accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and continuous process improvements onsite in Fort Worth, Texas.
IN THIS ROLE, A TYPICAL DAY WILL INCLUDE:
  • Interact proactively with HR, Payroll Operations, and Finance teams to ensure accurate accounting and financial reporting of compensation-related activities in accordance with IFRS, the Alcon Accounting Manual, and company policies.
  • Own the completion and review of monthly balance sheet account analyses and reconciliations for payroll, incentive compensation, deferred compensation, and global mobility accounts.
  • Handle month-end close activities for assigned areas, including payroll accounting, STI accruals and true-ups, deferred compensation activity, and intercompany cross charges.
  • Review and approve journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting documentation prepared by senior accountants, ensuring completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal controls.
  • Oversee projects associated with posting and verifying financial transactions and performing reconciliations to ensure accurate financial records and reliable reporting.
  • Manage accounting for global mobility activities, including cross-charge allocations to host countries and coordination with HR, tax, payroll, and external stakeholders.
  • Support accounting for short-term incentive (STI) programs, including accrual calculations, true-ups, and payout reconciliations.
  • Monitor and record deferred compensation activity, ensuring proper accounting treatment and balance sheet accuracy.
  • Analyze payroll and HR-related financial data, identify variances, investigate discrepancies, and ensure appropriate general ledger impact across multiple legal entities.
  • Collaborate with Regional and Global Financial Reporting teams, as well as internal and external auditors, to resolve accounting and reporting matters in a timely manner.
  • Monitor compliance with accounting policies, IFRS standards, financial controls, and company procedures.
  • Lead projects and identify opportunities for automation, standardization, and continuous process improvement to increase efficiency and accuracy.
  • Drive achievement of service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to HR Accounting activities.
  • Ensure all accounting activities follow Alcon standards and policies, including the Alcon Accounting Manual, Financial Controls Manual, and Management Authorization Levels.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO ALCON:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +13 yrs; Assoc.+9 yrs; M.S.+2 yrs; PhD+0 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
  • 5 Years of Relevant Experience Experience managing month-end close processes, account reconciliations, journal entries, accruals, and financial reporting activities.

PREFERRED:
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS or US GAAP, internal controls, SOX compliance, and audit requirements.
  • Experience in payroll, compensation, deferred compensation, global mobility, and HR accounting.
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency with ERP systems such as SAP, Blackline, or ADP.
  • Experience in a multinational or shared services environment.
  • Ability to manage complex accounting processes, perform detailed reviews, and provide accounting guidance.
  • Proven success partnering with HR, Payroll, Finance, Tax, auditors, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience leading process improvements, automation initiatives, and cross-functional projects.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
