Local candidates only 13-week contract with the possibility of extension Must be comfortable working evening shifts and weekends Minimum of 1 year of relevant experience required Dress Code: Scrubs of any color are permitted as long as they are kid-friendly. Jeans are not allowed. Retail Pharmacy hours are open 7 days a week, 8am-12 midnight. Weekend rotations will be needed.

Job Summary: The role of the pharmacy technician is to assist pharmacists in providing professional pharmacy services to the patients and staff of Cook Childrens Retail Pharmacy and the community we serve. Clerical tasks will encompass the process of recording, filing and reporting pharmacy activities and services. The technical tasks will be performed after experience is gained and necessary skills and competence demonstrated. All tasks will be performed under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. Job Responsibilities: -10% Prescription Drop-off/Pick-up: assignment involves serving as the first line communication between department and patient, nurse and/or other medical staff to serve the patients needs either at the counter or over the phone. -This includes providing basic information regarding availability of drugs and dosage forms stocked in the pharmacy, location and status of previously requested refills, and informing patients on the procedures to obtain prescriptions. -10% Telephone Care Program assignment involves answering incoming calls, independently resolving patient problems with prescriptions, and requesting prescriptions from providers. -15% Controlled Substance filling assignment involves selecting controlled substance medications, counting the correct number of drugs, and labeling as indicated for the prescription order. -This also includes conducting required counts, maintaining perpetual inventory of all controlled substances, and performing administrative paperwork as instructed. -40% Prescription filling assignment involves selecting medication from the shelf, counting the correct number of medications or medical supplies, prepackaging, reconstituting, and labeling as indicated for the prescription order. -5% Counting cells assignment involves restocking the counting cells, using the counting cells as needed and performing required daily cleaning and maintenance. -5% Maintains Cook Childrens Pharmacy Standards of Behavior. -5% Participate in and support quality control and performance improvement efforts to include assigned medication room audits, participation in recording sterile product audit, checking of expired meds and other projects as assigned. -5% Participate in offered or required department education. -5% Supports and adheres to policies, procedures, and standards of practice put forth by the department, hospital, and regulatory agencies.
