Job description

Work Schedule:
100% FTE, Monday - Friday with hours beginning between 6:00 am and 9:30 am. Rotating 25% evening coverage of 12:00 pm - 8:30 pm. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. Rotating remote pager coverage required. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI.

We are seeking a Pharmacy Supervisor to:

  • Lead and supervise pharmacy technicians, provide day-to-day operational oversight, staffing coordination, and performance management.
  • Oversee onboarding, training, and competency development to ensure staff readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Monitor performance metrics and lead continuous improvement efforts to enhance efficiency, quality, and service delivery.
  • Plan, implement, and evaluate operational projects and process improvements in collaboration with pharmacy leadership and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Maintain and optimize workflow systems, automation, and technology to support safe and efficient medication-use processes.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and regulatory standards (e.g., TJC, DEA, USP), while supporting medication safety initiatives and providing operational support as needed.
  • Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding operations, ensuring compliance with USP <795>, <797>, and <800> standards.
  • Support environmental monitoring, cleaning and disinfection programs, and related quality assurance activities.
  • Collaborate on implementation and optimization of compounding technologies, equipment, and workflow processes.

Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Required
  • Residency training: PGY2 in pharmacy specialty area of oversight. Preferred
  • Degree: Master of Science in Pharmacy Administration, Master of Health Care Administration, Master of Business Administration, or other relevant graduate degree. Preferred

Work Experience

  • Three years of relevant work experience, or PGY1 plus one year of relevant work experience, or PGY2. Required
  • PGY2 in specialty area of oversight plus at least two years of relevant work experience in an academic medical center. Preferred

Licenses and Certifications

  • Licensed as a pharmacist in Wisconsin or eligible (must be licensed by start date). Required
  • Board certified through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties in specialty are of oversight and/or certification in pharmacy informatics or applicable Epic applications required to perform job functions. If not certified upon hire, must be certified by 18 months of start date if applicable certification exists. Preferred
