Job Title: Specialty Pharmacy TechnicianJob Description

This role supports a high-volume specialty pharmacy fulfillment operation by accurately preparing, packing, and shipping medications to patients across the country. The Specialty Pharmacy Technician uses multiple computer systems and automated equipment to process prescription orders, ensuring patient safety, quality, and regulatory compliance. The position requires strong attention to detail, dependable performance, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative pharmacy team.

Responsibilities
  • Use multiple computer systems to retrieve pharmacy orders, verify them against received prescriptions, and generate accurate mailing labels.
  • Utilize standard procedures to select the most appropriate packing and shipping methods, including choosing correct packaging types and managing unique conditions such as refrigeration to ensure safe and secure delivery of medications.
  • Prepare manual prescription orders by verifying prescription information, pulling the correct medications from inventory, and completing all required scanning, labeling, and packaging steps.
  • Maintain and operate various pharmacy fulfillment machines and equipment, such as IPD machines and auto-packing machines, to support efficient production workflows.
  • Work closely with a team of up to 10 pharmacy professionals in a fulfillment setting to coordinate order processing and ensure timely shipment of specialty medications to patients.
  • Prioritize and multitask effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment to meet daily order and shipping targets.
  • Follow all pharmacy, safety, and regulatory guidelines to maintain compliance and protect patient health and privacy.
  • Demonstrate dependability and accountability by consistently meeting performance standards and maintaining accuracy in all aspects of order processing.
  • Contribute to a culture of quality and continuous improvement by identifying issues, escalating concerns, and participating in training and cross-training opportunities.
  • Support cross-functional workflows by learning and performing tasks across different areas of the fulfillment operation as needed.
Essential Skills
  • Active Alabama pharmacy technician license.
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • Previous experience working as a pharmacy technician, ideally in a production or fulfillment environment.
  • Proficiency with computers and Windows PC applications, including the ability to navigate multiple systems to process pharmacy orders.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling prescriptions, inventory, labels, and documentation.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced, high-volume production setting.

  • Familiarity with specialty pharmacy operations and handling medications that may require special storage or shipping conditions.
  • Comfort working with automated pharmacy equipment such as IPD machines and auto-packing machines.

Work Environment

The role is based in a specialty pharmacy fulfillment facility operating standard daytime hours, typically from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The environment is high-volume and production-oriented, focused on preparing and shipping specialty medication orders to patients nationwide. You will work on-site alongside up to 10 pharmacy team members, using multiple computer systems and automated packing equipment such as IPD and auto-packing machines. Pay and Benefits
