Position Overview

The Certified Pharmacy Technician supports pharmacy operations by receiving, storing, picking, packing, and shipping pharmaceutical products in compliance with FDA, USP, DEA (if applicable), and State Board of Pharmacy regulations. This role requires accuracy, attention to detail, and the ability to perform physical warehouse tasks in a regulated healthcare environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in the build-out, launch, and scale of our pharmacy from ground zero, contributing to its success and growth.
  • Establish and test best practices for pharmacy workstreams to ensure efficient operations.
  • Prepare compounded medications and specialty pharmaceuticals under the supervision of a pharmacist, following established procedures and safety protocols.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as cleaning equipment and work areas, to uphold cleanliness and compliance with regulatory standards.

Day to Day duties

  • Fill, pack, and ship prescription orders in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure the proper labeling, packaging, and storage of compounded medications, including maintaining accurate documentation of ingredients, quantities, and lot numbers.
  • Maintain inventory levels by monitoring stock levels, ordering medications and supplies as needed, and rotating stock to ensure proper storage and expiration date management.
  • Promote safety programs and recommend corrective actions as needed.
  • Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and pharmacy policies, including HIPAA and FDA guidelines, to ensure patient confidentiality and safety
  • Perform other tasks as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Pharmacy Technician license or certification in good standing
  • Experience with Pharmacy Management Systems (Pharmetika a plus)
  • Three years experience working as a pharmacy technician
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
    Basic computer skills (scanners, inventory systems)
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to comply with pharmacy regulations and SOPs

Preferred Qualifications

  • Non-sterile compounding experience
  • Familiarity with FDA, USP, or Board of Pharmacy standards
  • Forklift or pallet jack experience (certification a plus)

Work Environment

  • Pharmacy warehouse setting
  • Exposure to refrigerated and controlled room temperature areas
  • Moderate noise level typical of warehouse operations
  • High level of regulatory oversight and documentation requirements

Physical Requirements

Employees must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, lift up to 50 pounds occasionally, perform repetitive motions, work in temperature-controlled and refrigerated environments, and maintain attention to detail while handling pharmaceutical products in compliance with regulatory requirements.
