ย Qualifications

  • Bachelors of Science in medical technology, chemistry, physical or biological sciences is required; or meet CLIA 88โ€™ requirements for high complexity testing with a minimum of 5 yearsโ€™ experience.

  • A minimum of 6 months training/experience in high complexity testing environment.

  • Preferred 1+ year(s) training/experience in high complexity testing environment. Hospital experience is preferred.

  • A qualified candidate will be board certified (ASCP, AMT, AAB, HEW or equivalent) or board certified eligible. Candidate should also have a minimum of 3 years of core laboratory experience including, Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, and Blood Bank. Board certified eligible individuals must receive certification within 1 year of employment.

Essential Functions

  • Complex analysis of microscopic, immunologic, biologic, bacteriologic, hematologic, and chemical tests and their results.
  • Collaborates with physicians, laboratory staff, pharmacy, and medical director on all aspects of patient care.
  • Uses automated equipment, specialized instrumentation and manual methods to prepare samples for examination.
  • Assures all testing is performed accurately by following established facility policies and guidelines.
  • Manages daily workload within the department to ensure patient testing is completed in a timely manner.
  • Reviews quality control results prior to reporting any patient result and taking corrective action when needed.
  • Effectively communicates with lab assistant and communicates collection needs.
  • Complies with all hospital/department policies and procedures.
  • Adheres to all regulatory requirements, patient safety goals and standards of best practices.
