Job description

Hello from Somerville Pharmacy! Located in the heart of downtown Somerville. We are a new, fast growing independent community pharmacy looking to do pharmacy right for patients, providers and our team members.

The position we are looking to fill includes the following:

  • Some weekday shifts to meet our store hours of 9am - 6:30pm
  • 1 or 2 Saturdays a month 10am - 4pm alternating with other pharmacists. We all have lives and want to enjoy our weekends, we get it! All pharmacists work together to cover the month and so far it's been a great balance.

You would have your schedule at least 2 -3 weeks in advance and as the business grows we would offer more hours based on performance, script count and if that is something your schedule allows for. We are flexible and looking to add a strong, customer service driven pharmacist to our team.

Store Hours:

Mon-Fri: 9am -6:30pm

Sat: 10am - 4pm

Sun: Closed

General Accountabilities :

Fills prescriptions, dispenses medicines, counsels patients and doctors on the nature of drugs, and performs other pharmacy services.

Able to support the pharmacy technicians in processing prescriptions and billing as needed. We will train but a background in insurance adjudication is required.

Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.

Follow all State and Federal law requirements pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.

Provides information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage.

Perform data entry, filling, verification as required by the business needs to ensure workflow is managed efficiently.

Maintains records, such as pharmacy files or patient profiles. Abides by HIPAA Privacy and Security.

Plans, implements, or maintains procedures for mixing, packaging, or labeling pharmaceuticals, according to policy and legal requirements.

Assesses the identity, strength, or purity of medications.

Orders and purchases pharmaceutical supplies, medical supplies, or drugs, maintaining stock and storing and handling it properly.

Advises customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, or healthcare supplies. Consults on medication use, side effects, other required counseling points.

Manages pharmacy operations, support in hiring staff, performing administrative duties, or buying or selling non-pharmaceutical merchandise.

Counsel customers on over the counter medications and is willing to learn about the array of Vitamins and supplements available.

Maintains direct supervision of pharmacy staff during operating hours.

Job Qualifications and Requirements:

Education: Pharm D, Rph or equivalent for New Jersey State Pharmacist licensure

Currently licensed to Immunize in NJ and CPR is current. Experience in administering immunizations.

Experience: At least 1 year of recent retail pharmacy experience

New Jersey Licensed Pharmacist in Good Standing.

Experience in Pioneerx Pharmacy Software is a plus but not required and will train.
