Director Pharmacist in Charge- Fulfillment

Location: This role requires associates to work from the posted locations full-time, enabling consistent face-to-face collaboration, teamwork, and direct engagement. This policy promotes an environment built on in-person interaction, communication, and immediate support. The Director Pharmacist in Charge- Fulfillment is responsible to ensure adherence to facility Standards of Operating Policies (SOPs) and procedures and adherence to state and federal regulations. Works with Operations management to ensure goals are achieved, assisting with investigations and daily operational pharmacy duties, monitoring training and ensuring training is up to date. Oversees all aspects of the pharmacy operations pertaining to license, ensuring that services adhere to professional standards and applicable laws. Manages quality, licensing, adherence to policies, procedures and regulations, regulatory changes, accreditation and legal implications for the pharmacy.

  • Responsible for the execution of opening and closing activities.

  • Ensures that strict procedures are followed around the facility.

  • Represents the facility in state and federal regulatory audits, visits and communications.

  • Writes operational and production SOPs and ensures adherence to pharmacy policies and procedures.

  • Ensures that all pharmacy operations adhere with rules and regulations.

  • Acts as liaison with quality department and assists with resolving issues.

  • Maintains relationships and ensures adherence with state and federal regulatory agencies.

  • Assists in documentation and completion of Adverse Drug Event forms.

  • Serves as subject matter expert and answers questions from health professionals and provides product information.

  • Ensures compliant work environments, maintenance of technician to pharmacist ratios, and individual impacts of State Board associate requirements in terms of quality.

  • Manages pharmacy quality and performance.

  • Utilizes tools and performance metrics to monitor staff productivity, deliverables, timelines and quality of work product to adjust staffing levels and operational processes to ensure operational effectiveness.

  • Hires, trains, coaches, counsels, and evaluates performance of direct reports.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Requires BA/BS in Pharmacy or Pharm D and a minimum of 5 years pharmacy experience and a minimum of 5 years management experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background.

  • Current active unrestricted state license to practice pharmacy as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) in North Carolina required.

  • Prior experience with mail order and/or retail pharmacy compliance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PharmD preferred.

  • Knowledge of DEA, FDA and state regulations pertaining to handling of controlled substances preferred.

  • Experience interpreting compliance requirements and regulations preferred.

  • Experience working with State Boards of Pharmacy regarding complaints, issue resolution, inspection and central fill requirements preferred.

  • Multi-state pharmacist licensure or eligibility strongly preferred.

  • Specialty pharmacy experience is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to leverage technology in operational leadership preferred.

  • Experience leading production or operational environments, including P&L responsibility preferred.
