The Role

The Staff Pharmacist plays a critical role in ensuring the safe, compliant, and efficient dispensing of medical cannabis products at our Stamford, CT location. This role is non-managerial and focuses on order fulfillment, patient consultation, regulatory compliance, and oversight of dispensary support staff during assigned shifts.

This position averages approximately 10 hours per week and reports to the Pharmacist-in-Charge and/or Retail Operations leadership.

Core Job Duties & Responsibilities

Dispensing & Patient Care

  • Accurately fill, verify, and dispense medical cannabis orders in compliance with Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection (DCP) regulations.
  • Provide patient consultations, education, and guidance regarding product selection, dosing considerations, routes of administration, and potential drug interactions.
  • Ensure all patient interactions are conducted professionally, confidentially, and in accordance with state regulations and Sweetspot standards.

Compliance & Regulatory Oversight

  • Ensure all dispensing activities comply with Connecticut state laws, DCP regulations, and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Oversee proper documentation, labeling, packaging, and verification of all orders.
  • Identify and escalate compliance concerns, discrepancies, or operational issues to leadership as appropriate.
  • Maintain familiarity with changes to state regulations and internal policies as they relate to dispensing and patient care.

Inventory & Order Accuracy

  • Verify inventory accuracy related to dispensing activities, including weigh-in/weigh-out procedures.
  • Follow established inventory control, tracking, and reconciliation procedures during assigned shifts.
  • Report inventory discrepancies or concerns promptly per SOP.

Staff Oversight (Shift-Based)

  • Provide professional oversight and guidance to dispensary support staff (e.g., customer counselors, pharmacy technicians) during assigned shifts.
  • Ensure staff are following SOPs, compliance requirements, and proper workflow procedures.
  • Serve as the clinical and regulatory authority on-site or remotely (as applicable) during scheduled hours.

General Pharmacist Duties

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy workspace.
  • Uphold a professional appearance and demeanor consistent with Sweetspot standards.
  • Participate in ongoing training as required.

Job Qualifications

  • Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or RPh degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active, unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of Connecticut.
  • Experience in a dispensary, retail pharmacy, or regulated healthcare environment preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of pharmacy law, patient counseling, and compliance standards.
  • Ability to exercise sound professional judgment in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.
  • Physical ability to stand, walk throughout the facility, and lift/move up to 50 lbs if necessary.
