The Advanced Analytics for Business Insights (AABI) team, part of the Portfolio Strategy & Insights function, is dedicated to solving complex healthcare challenges and improving patient outcomes. AABI enables our business partners across Global Pharma Strategy (GPS), Medical Affairs (PDMA), Pharma International (PI) and other functions to make impactful decisions by leveraging data, analytics, and AI to enable fast, targeted actions in rapidly evolving business contexts.

In AABI, you will work as a trusted advisor and expert, recommending critical decisions and actions to be taken with credibility and a focus on driving measurable impact. You will be part of a diverse, inclusive team that reflects the mission we serve, thriving in a welcoming culture built on collaboration and innovation.

This role will report to the Head of Data Asset Management.

The Position

The Data Product Management & Strategy Lead role is foundational for AABI and broader GPS, to drive commercial excellence, overseeing the end-to-end data management and data architecture to deliver fit-for-purpose data products and services. The lead will be accountable for shaping the data strategy that critically enables digital operations and transform the data stack to effectively deliver for advanced analytics and AI needs.

This person will lead a diverse team focused on developing and delivering the data products, stewarding data, maintaining data quality, and leading data initiatives to meet business needs. The team also serves as a center of excellence for data inquiries across Roche affiliates, working with other functions across Roche including but not limited to global data office, Roche Digital Technology (RDT), Data Governance team and external vendors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deeply understand customer engagement and information utilization by business users across commercial operations, to develop and guide the global data management strategy and integration roadmap based on prioritized business requirements

  • Serve as the executive champion for the data assets and products, articulating its strategic value to senior stakeholders, influencing enterprise decision-making, communicating value to stakeholders, and fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and excellence

  • In collaboration with other functions across Roche, design and move the organization towards a common data backbone that will create greater effectiveness towards an integrated customer and patient experience

  • Oversee the design and implementation of global MDM backbone to ensure consistency, quality, and integrity of master data across systems (e.g. Customer, Product, Patient etc.)

  • Drive integration of commercial master data across different platforms and business units, enabling a unified and enterprise view of our customers

  • Effectively manage the data operations to deliver the required information to business users across global and affiliates, ensuring pertinent, accurate, and timely data delivery

  • Lead the development of data products, with an enterprise mindset, to address the needs of business performance, customer segmentation, resource optimization, content management, next best actions etc

  • Work with Martech and Analytical product owners, functional leads in global insights & CI and affiliate stakeholders, to map their needs and drive domain oriented data products delivery

  • Foster a culture of innovation by exploring new technologies, machine learning, and AI to create next-generation global and local data products that enhance commercial operations

  • Collaborate with peers, senior leaders across Roche to align internal business requirements to drive the data strategy & roadmap

  • Balance the needs of the enterprise, prioritizing and sequencing product releases that are orchestrated with other products across the portfolio

  • Build, lead, and motivate a diverse team of people with deep stakeholder and business operations knowledge

  • Continually invest in team development and empower through a clear vision and strategic direction, while also creating culture around effective communication, a sense of urgency, and prioritizing collaboration with both internal and external partners

  • Ensure efficient management of large budget & resources to deliver on business outcomes; make necessary tradeoffs and track progress of your portfolio

  • Define hypotheses, design experiments, and conduct tests in collaboration with stakeholders;; set and track performance and adoption metrics across the data product stack, in partnership with stakeholder teams, including regularly reporting on efficiency gains and business impact

  • Partner with relevant business solutions team and affiliate squad leads to devise a structured change management strategy, inclusive of stakeholder engagement, communication plans, and ongoing support

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree (preferably in computer science, engineering, healthcare information systems, or similar technical discipline); MBA other related graduate-level degree (preferred)

  • 10+ years of experience in data management roles, with emphasis on commercial data management solutions

  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical data domain, both global and especially regional & country level ecosystem

  • Proven ability to own and manage the full product lifecycle, including visioning, roadmap creation, execution, and impact measurement

  • Strong understanding of platforms including MDM (Reltio, Informatica Cloud or others), CRM (Veeva or Salesforce), Marketing Automation (Adobe or others)

  • Understanding of Data Mesh architectures on cloud environments (e.g., Redshift, Snowflake, Databrick), to support the continuous deployment of analytical and AI data products

  • Strong experience in designing and implementing complex global & cross-country data solutions; working in standard DevOps agile setting or bringing agile best-practice mentorship to the team

  • Strong leadership and team management abilities, with experience in coaching, developing, and inspiring talent

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with demonstrated success in facilitating cross-functional collaboration.

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to interpret data insights and drive operational decisions.

  • Business travel is required for regular internal and external business meetings

Location:

This position can be based in South San Francisco or Basel and relocation benefits are not available.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of South San Francisco, CA is $198,200 - $368,200 USD Annual. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. A discretionary annual bonus may be available based on individual and Company performance. This position also qualifies for the benefits detailed at the link provided below.
