Job Overview

Sumitomo Pharma Co., Ltd. is a global pharmaceutical company based in Japan with operations in the U.S. (Sumitomo Pharma America, Inc.). We are hiring a Territory Sales Manager/Associate Territory Sales Manager for the Community Care Sales Team. The role focuses on achieving sales goals within primary care, urology, and womenโ€™s health in an assigned geographic territory.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver results by consistently meeting or exceeding sales objectives through effective and compliant sales strategy.
  • Demonstrate resilience and a consistent ability to overcome obstacles in order to achieve objectives.
  • Consistently demonstrate SMPA values through effective business planning and execution, developing and executing a business plan aligned with the sales strategy.
  • Prioritize and call on the appropriate customers at the optimal frequency to change prescribing behaviors.
  • Demonstrate effective preโ€‘call planning prior to HCP engagement to establish a clear purpose for the sales call.
  • Move customers along the adoption continuum by driving market share growth and employing impactful selling techniques.
  • Engage in twoโ€‘way dialogue with customers, employing selling skills to generate dialogue, identify needs and practice active listening.
  • Effectively utilize patient type selling with approved messaging and resources.
  • Deploy a growth mindset daily, focusing on opportunities rather than limitations.
  • Expect and deliver success consistently.
Qualifications & Core Competencies
  • Proven, consistent track record of exceeding sales goals in an assigned geography or equivalent experience.
  • Success in all aspects of selling, including clinical expertise, selling skills, and a deep understanding of the local ecosystem.
  • Strong analytical skills: ability to analyze complex data and develop strategic, actionable business plans.
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills with proficiency in technology platforms and business hardware/software.
  • Excellent understanding of the payer landscape, including commercial, Medicaid, and Medicare, or comparable experience.
  • Strong scientific/technical knowledge to effectively present details and marketing materials to healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to adapt to a fastโ€‘paced environment and exercise independent judgment.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelorโ€™s degree required, preferably in Business or Life Sciences.
  • Associate Territory Sales Manager: 0โ€“3+ years of pharmaceutical sales or relevant experience.
  • Territory Sales Manager: 3โ€“5+ years of pharmaceutical sales or relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated mastery or aptitude to learn product and disease state knowledge.
Travel Requirements
  • Mandatory travel within the territory, including car and overnight air travel as necessary.
  • Periodic national travel to corporate headquarters, training, product theaters, and sales meetings.
  • Work hours may include meetings scheduled outside of normal business hours.
Compensation & Benefits
  • Associate Role: base salary $84,000 to $105,000.
  • Territory Sales Manager: base salary $108,000 to $135,000.
  • Meritโ€‘based salary increases and short incentive plan participation.
  • 401(k) plan participation.

  • Flexible paid time off, 11 paid holidays, additional shutโ€‘down period during the last week of December.
  • 80 hours of paid sick time upon hire and annually thereafter.
