Job description

The Extruder Operator is responsible for operating extrusion lines to manufacture pipe in accordance with established company specifications. This role includes performing production tasks, conducting visual inspections, and packaging finished products to ensure quality standards are consistently met.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

•     Maintain equipment and work areas in a clean, orderly condition in compliance with THM and ISO standards.
•     Meet all qualification requirements and follow Supervisor direction.
•     Operate extruder machines, control panels, and make necessary adjustments to extrusion lines.
•     Assist with machine changeovers.
•     Measure pipe specifications, ensure tolerances using calipers and micrometers, and report issues to Supervisor and Quality Control.
•     Identify visual defects in pipe and cut required Quality Control samples.
•     Complete Production Inspection Reports, supporting documentation, and bihourly line checks; report any changes or abnormalities.
•     Calculate and adjust puller speed, machine rate, and line speed accurately.
•     Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs on equipment.
•     Clean extruder and cooling tank water filters.
•     Operate forklift to move finished product, boxes, materials, and supplies.
•     Use safe work practices and report hazardous conditions.
•     Train new or inexperienced employees as needed.
•     Perform other miscellaneous tasks as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
