Minimum Qualifications
Possession of a current Louisiana Registered Nurse license or a temporary permit or multi-state license issued by a Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC/eNLC) state to practice as a registered nurse.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
40% Serve as a lead nurse to provide supervision of skilled nursing services to patients of all ages that present for emergent and non-emergent care in an Emergency Department. Assign staff, based on qualifications of each member, relating to patient needs. Complete, assign or assist with completing the initial assessment of patients' needs based on psychosocial, environmental and physiological factors and establishes priorities rapidly and accurately while using a five level triage system. Revise assessments based upon patient behavior condition/needs. Review and verify patient orders. Document assessment, nursing interventions including patient response and patient education. Perform reassessments on patients according to established guidelines and when indicated by change in acuity and urgency of patient's condition. Communicate and coordinate patient care with supervisory staff, oncoming nurse and other disciplines. Maintains confidentiality regarding patient and hospital information. Maintain safety and security of patients/hospital staff. Adhere to infection control guidelines.
40% Identify potential and actual patient problems. Identifies potential problems between patient and subordinate staff and intervenes appropriately. Develop and implement teaching plan according to assessed needs and instruct patient and/or significant other. Coordinate teaching plan with other disciplines. Collaborates with physician, other disciplines and patient and/or significant other to develop plan of care. Facilitate appropriate referrals according to identified continuity care needs.
10% Maintains CEU's for licensure. Strive for ENPC and TNCC. Participate in staff development based upon assessed learning needs. Participate in unit meetings and quality improvement activities. Assume delegated Charge Nurse Duties. Participate in orientation of personnel. Assist with performance evaluation of subordinate staff. Serve as House Supervisor when designated and investigates problems, complaints, and policy and procedure violations and takes appropriate action with follow-up as necessary. Adjust staff as needed to assure adequate nursing coverage.
10% Attend Educational In-Services, Mandatory Training and Annual Review as required by hospital policy and procedure, or deemed necessary by supervisor. Any and all other duties as assigned to include ensuring departmental coverage. Strive to attend outside agency educational opportunities.
The incumbent may be required to possess and maintain a current LA State RN licensure, a valid BLS, ACLS and PALS certification.
Position-Specific Details:
The incumbent will be required to work in various departments throughout Lallie Kemp Medical Center. Furthermore, the incumbent will be required to work night shift and the work schedule will be determined by the Department Manager.
This position is for a Nurse Registered PRN on the night shift. The incumbent may be utilized in various departments throughout the hospital. Additionally, this PRN( as needed) position requires an incumbent to work at least one (1) shift in a four (4) week period.
  • Compensation is $30.00 base pay plus shift differential pay. Shift 2 differential pay is $3.00 hourly. Shifts 3, holidays, and weekends pay is $4.60 hourly.
  • Possession of current BLS, ACLS and PALS certification from American Heart Association is mandatory. Premium pay compensation is granted for these certification.
  • Attendance of a five (5) day General Orientation is required.
