VDCI is currently hiring a Lead A&P Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Technician in the Ogden, UT area.

A valid A&P License and I/A is required to be considered for this position!

Overview

The Lead Aerial Mechanic is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, repair, and inspection of all aerial equipment, including drones, and other aerial vehicles. This role ensures that all aerial equipment is maintained to the highest safety standards and operational efficiency. The Lead Aerial Mechanic will manage a team of mechanics, coordinate maintenance schedules, and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform and supervise scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on all aerial equipment.

  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and structural issues in aerial vehicles.

  • Ensure all repairs are performed efficiently and to the highest standards of safety and quality.

  • Assist manager of aircraft maintenance, mentor, and train a team of aerial mechanics.

  • Assign tasks, manage workloads, and ensure timely completion of maintenance activities.

  • Foster a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

  • Conduct regular inspections of aerial equipment to ensure compliance with FAA and other regulatory standards.

  • Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities, inspections, and repairs.

  • Stay updated with regulatory changes and implement necessary updates in maintenance protocols.

  • Coordinate with the operations team to schedule maintenance activities without disrupting flight schedules.

  • Communicate effectively with pilots, manager of aircraft maintenance, and other stakeholders regarding the status of aerial equipment.

  • Develop and implement maintenance plans and schedules.

  • Oversee the inventory of parts, tools, and equipment required for maintenance and repairs.

  • Ensure timely procurement of necessary parts and manage relationships with suppliers.

  • Develop and enforce safety protocols and maintenance procedures.

  • Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.

  • Promote a culture of safety and quality within the maintenance team.

Candidate Requirements

  • Must be computer literate and knowledgeable of the MS Office & Google suite of applications.

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.

  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving abilities.

  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.

  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Education

  • High school diploma or GED required.

  • Associate degree or technical certification in aviation maintenance or a related field preferred.

Experience

  • Valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Mechanic certificate required, and IA certification required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in aerial maintenance required, prior experience is a lead or supervisory role is desirable.

  • Extensive experience with crop dusters, helicopters, drones, and other aerial equipment.

  • In-depth knowledge of aerial equipment maintenance practices, regulations, and industry standards.
