Job description

Salary: $161,00.00 to $182,00.00 annually

The General Manager will be responsible for providing leadership, vision, direction, and planning for business operations of the East Granby, CT overhaul and repair facility. This position will have primary responsibility for operations, customer support, quality, CI, business development, human resources, facilities delivery, revenues, gross margin, safety, environmental compliance, purchasing, engineering and program management. The position will lead and manage the operations team and be responsible for setting and executing facility operational strategies. This job description is intended to provide a guideline of the responsibilities of this position. It is not totally inclusive of all the responsibilities of the position and is subject to change based on the needs of the business and management discretion.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Development of annual business plans that define the long term strategy of the business, sales forecasts, operational goals, capital expense requirements, human resource requirements, continuous improvement goals, operational goals, and financial projections. These plans will be developed in conjunction with the other team members with support from direct reports.
  • Implementation and execution of the annual business plan for direct areas of responsibilities and to provide support for areas of secondary responsibility. This position is also responsible for the adjustment of the annual plan to account for changes in the business.
  • Achieve operational performance goals relating to sales revenues, delivery performance, quality, profitability, safety, and personnel development.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to ensure a pipeline of profitable business growth opportunities. Work with business development team members to establish well aligned market coverage to drive growth and diversification. Manage the internal bid process and preparation of proposals for major outside procurement. Ensure organizational readiness and ability to respond to customer demands.
  • Provide management and oversight to the direct reports to ensure that systems are in place and effective to support customer requirements for service, delivery, quality, and technical support. This includes staffing, capital expense, human resources, system qualifications and policies and procedures.
  • Evaluate organizational structure and processes, and adjust as necessary, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements while maintaining operational performance levels that meet and/or exceed customer expectations.
  • Oversee the ongoing implementation of Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives throughout the facility.
  • Provide training, guidance and leadership to all direct reports.

Shared Responsibilities:

This position will be on the TIGHITCO Key Leadership Team responsible for development of the company‑wide business strategy from both a business development and operational perspective. Members of this team are responsible for holding the team accountable to constantly evaluating our efforts to be a world class supplier in every area of our business. This position will also assist in the evaluation of potential acquisition candidates that support overall company growth plans.

Qualifications

Required:

  • This position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.15 is required.
  • BA/BS in industrial, mechanical or business administration, or a 4‑year technical degree in related discipline.
  • 10+ years’ experience in manufacturing management, preferably in a process‑oriented operations and/or related industry.
  • A minimum of 5‑years’ experience managing a significant segment of a large manufacturer or the entire operation of a smaller manufacturer in the overhaul, repair & support segment.
  • Motivated and capable leader that is driven by a continuous process improvement mentality.
  • Strong manufacturing leadership.
  • Operational focus (quality, delivery, cost).
  • External strategy perspective and comfort in interacting with customers.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Additional Information

Work Environment & Physical Demands: This largely sedentary job operates in a clerical office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Occasional requirements of lifting files, opening filing cabinets and bending/standing as required may be necessary. Must be able to sit for long periods, physical coordination to operate computer and other office equipment.

Work Authorization: U.S. citizenship is a requirement for this position as TIGHITCO is subject to ITAR regulation and compliance.
