Job Description

The Machine Shop Helper supports daily operations in a busy machine shop by accurately measuring materials, safely moving products with overhead cranes, assembling shafts to specification, and assisting machinists with a variety of tasks. This role involves general labor, regular use of hand and power tools, and maintaining a clean, organized, and safe work area while handling materials up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately measure materials and parts using a tape measure to ensure all components meet required project tolerances.
  • Safely operate overhead cranes to move raw materials and finished products within the shop.
  • Assemble shafts and similar mechanical components according to detailed specifications and instructions.
  • Assist machinists with a wide range of shop tasks, including setup, material handling, and basic preparation work.
  • Use hand tools and power tools to support machining and assembly processes as directed.
  • Lift, carry, and move materials weighing up to 50 lbs. as needed throughout the shift.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in accordance with shop safety standards and procedures.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions carefully to complete tasks efficiently and accurately.

Pay and Benefits
