Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced and versatile finance professional to serve as Personal CFO / Director of Finance for three real estate principals. This is a senior, hands-on role that sits at the intersection of personal wealth management, real estate investment, and operating company finance.

The Personal CFO will be the principals’ primary financial resource, responsible for managing and coordinating all financial matters across their personal balance sheets, real estate portfolios, and affiliated business ventures.

In addition, the role will provide accounting and financial reporting support to Soltrust Advisors, the external manager of Soltrust Residential REIT, though it will not be responsible for property-level reporting for Soltrust Residential REIT’s owned portfolio.

The CFO-level responsibilities for Soltrust Residential REIT itself - including oversight of the REIT’s books and financial reporting, its owned buildings, investor reporting, audit coordination, and broader fund-level leadership - may be folded into the role over time if the individual proves to be the right long-term fit and the organization is ready for that transition.

Reporting Structure

The Personal CFO reports directly to the three principals and works in close coordination with their outside advisors, including tax preparers, attorneys, lenders, insurance brokers, and third-party property managers. The existing Investment Controller would be a direct report to this position.

Key Responsibilities Personal Financial Management
  • Prepare and maintain personal financial statements for each principal, including balance sheets, income statements, and net worth summaries
  • Coordinate and manage each principal’s overall balance sheet, tracking assets,

liabilities, and equity across all holdings

  • Liaise with outside tax preparers to ensure timely preparation and filing of all required federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Manage cash flow planning and liquidity across personal and investment accounts, including daily treasury management
  • Coordinate with attorneys, bankers, insurance brokers, and other outside professionals on financial matters

Real Estate Portfolio – Principals’ Owned Properties
  • Gather, record, and consolidate property-level income and expense data from third-party

property managers across the principals’ portfolio

  • Maintain accurate books and records for all principal-owned properties
  • Analyze rental property cash flows and work with third-party property managers to optimize leasing, occupancy, and revenue performance
  • Prepare and present periodic financial reports on portfolio performance, including variance analysis and key operating metrics
  • Provide ongoing property-level accounting and financial reporting for properties owned directly by the principals
  • Liaise with outside tax preparers to ensure timely preparation and filing of all required federal, state, and local tax returns and distribution of K-1’s
Development Projects & Capital Transactions
  • Build and maintain financial models for development opportunities, including pro formas, return analyses, and scenario modeling
  • Prepare loan packages, draw requests, and supporting financial documentation for construction and permanent financing from third-party lenders
  • Manage the financial oversight of properties under construction, including budgeting, cost tracking, forecasting, and reporting against construction budgets
  • Monitor development timelines and flag financial risks or cost variances to the principals
Investment Management
  • Track and report on the principals’ active and passive investment portfolios, including

real estate partnerships, private equity, and other alternative investments

  • Monitor investment performance, distributions, capital calls, and compliance requirements
  • Assist in underwriting and evaluating new investment opportunities as directed by the principals
Soltrust Advisors – External Manager Support
  • Provide day-to-day accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting for Soltrust Advisors, the management company for Soltrust Residential REIT
  • Support Soltrust Advisors management-company reporting, including management fee calculations, operating budgets, internal reporting, and advisor-level financial controls
  • Coordinate with the Soltrust Residential REIT’s auditors, legal counsel, and other service providers only as needed for Soltrust Advisors’ management-company responsibilities
Other Business Ventures
  • Support accounting, bookkeeping, and financial reporting for the principals’ affiliated

business entities and ventures

  • Maintain organized financial records and entity-level books across multiple LLCs, partnerships, or other structures
  • Assist in structuring and tracking intercompany transactions, loans, and distributions

Qualifications & Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA strongly preferred
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in real estate finance, personal financial management, family office, or a combination thereof
  • Demonstrated experience with real estate investment accounting, including rental properties, development projects, and multi-entity structures
  • Strong financial modeling skills, including development pro formas and cash flow analysis
  • Experience coordinating with third-party property managers, lenders, tax advisors, and legal counsel
  • Proficiency with real estate accounting software (e.g., Yardi, AppFolio, or equivalent) and general ledger platforms (QuickBooks, Sage, or similar)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred
  • Prior experience in a family office, high-net-worth individual advisory, or multi-principal environment
  • Familiarity with REIT structures, fund-level accounting, or investment manager operations
  • Experience supporting construction financing, including draw management and lender reporting
  • Working knowledge of trust, partnership, and LLC accounting

Key Competencies
  • High degree of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential personal and financial information
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities across diverse entities and asset classes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to present complex financial information clearly to non-financial audiences
  • Self-starter with the ability to operate independently and proactively identify issues
  • Collaborative working style with the ability to build effective relationships with the principals and outside advisors
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and timeliness

This is a full-time, direct-hire position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and will include a competitive base salary, performance bonus opportunity, and benefits package.

Specific terms will be discussed with qualified candidates.
