Assistant Project Manager (Transportation)

Salary: $90,000K-120,000

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-orientedย Assistant Project Managerย with a background inย transportation infrastructure projectsย to support the successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects. This role will work closely with Project Managers, engineers, clients, agency stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to ensure schedules, budgets, quality standards, and project objectives are achieved.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in managing project schedules, budgets, and deliverables for transportation-related projects, including highways, roads, bridges, transit, rail, airport, and other infrastructure initiatives.
  • Coordinate meetings, track action items, and maintain project documentation, including reports, submittals, and agency correspondence.
  • Support communication between internal teams, clients, public agencies, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively identify project risks, issues, and potential schedule impacts.
  • Assist with project planning, permitting, stakeholder coordination, and regulatory compliance activities.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, project status updates, and executive summaries for leadership and clients.
  • Support contract administration, change order tracking, budget monitoring, and invoicing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with company processes, project management best practices, and applicable transportation industry standards and regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Transportation Engineering, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of project coordination, assistant project management, or project controls experience, preferably within theย transportation, infrastructure, engineering, or construction industry.
  • Experience supporting transportation projects such as highways, bridges, transit systems, rail, airports, or municipal infrastructure programs.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with project management tools such as MS Project, Smartsheet, Primavera P6, or similar platforms.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with DOT, transit agency, or public-sector project delivery processes is preferred.
  • PMP, CAPM, CCM, or related certifications are a plus.
