  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Permit Technician or in a closely related municipal permitting role.
  • Experience processing building permit applications from intake through issuance.
  • Experience supporting plan check functions within a Building & Safety Department.
  • Experience using automated permitting or permit tracking software.
  • Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to interpret permit records, construction documents, and basic building plans.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and computerized permitting systems.

  • Experience working directly with contractors, developers, architects, and engineers.
  • Familiarity with electronic plan review systems and digital permitting platforms.
  • Experience working in a high-volume customer service environment.

What We're Looking For
The successful candidate is organized, detail-oriented, and committed to providing outstanding public service. They are comfortable balancing multiple priorities while ensuring permits are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable regulations.
