Job description

The Ottohahn Group is working with a premier worldwide manufacturer and specialty fabricator of nuclear components to find Mechanical Engineers and Project Engineers to join their growing team!

Summary:

The Engineer / Project Engineer works closely with the Director of Engineering to manage customer order requests for the design and fabrication of heat exchangers and/or related HVAC systems and components utilizing ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Creation of customer requirements, initial design drawings, calculations, and BOM’s
  • Coordinate customer drawing and specification approvals
  • Monitor components through manufacturing & production process
  • Coordination of required quality inspections
  • Serve as the main point of contact for internal and external stakeholders
  • Create Design Reports with minimal supervision for several product lines
  • Perform thermal calculations for a variety of coil designs and configurations
  • Perform design validation calculations according to ASME Code requirements
  • Use judgement and initiative in developing solutions to problems, interpreting general policies, and determining work assignments
  • Maintain up-to-date project and sales order tracking systems
  • Coordinate resources to provide timely support to QA and the Shop Floor on demand
  • Provide technical expertise, guidance and support to Sales and customers
  • Manage welding/brazing activities including procedures, approvals and certifications

Experience / Knowledge with:

  • ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code for Section VIII, Section IX, Section I, Section III, Subsection NB, NC, ND, NF, and TEMA
  • Manufacturing, machining, & fabrication processes
  • Seismic and nozzle loading
  • Strength of materials
  • Solidworks & EPDM
  • Shell & Tube heat exchanger design (specifically evaporators / condensers)

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field
  • 5+ years of Mechanical Engineering experience
  • Positions are direct hire on-site in Lynchburg, VA
  • Must be a U.S Citizen or Permanent resident
